I use the notepad app on my android. I use it like digital post-it notes. One for the types of batteries around the house, one for scheduled appointments and such.

I use the notes app on iPhone and also the Keeper app (paid app). Both are set up to sync to my laptop but the Keeper app is encrypted with password/facial ID.

If any of the information you want to access is sensitive, I'd suggest a "password vault" type app. Many of these store arbitrary data in encrypted form on the phone itself. There are other advantages too, like easy cut-n-paste into forms, etc. Most of these will handle general notes as well as things like to do lists, bookmarks, etc. At least this will protect your data from someone who might simply pick up your phone, or look over your shoulder.
I would avoid password vaults that store your data "in the cloud," and favor those that allow multiple backups of the encrypted database. Anything that offers a "forgotten password recovery" is NOT secure.
I can recommend b-folders, free for Android (limited entries w/o in-app purchases). The ProtonPass offering seems pretty stout although it violates my cloud storage recommendation.

There are a couple apps I use (Standard notes and Notes)on my Unplugged Android phone. I’ve got 256 GB on the phone and 512 GB on the SD card so I have plenty of room for anything I need.
Get the Evernote app. It has a free level. It's like a notebook but it keeps your information in the cloud so if you change your phone or you lose it, you can still access your information.
The paid subscription allows you to access your information from different devices.
That's what I used to use until I switched to Microsoft Notes.

Or actually, you can use free google notes to save to your free google drive. You can also use Google contacts. and Google calendar.

I've been keeping a record of my medical info in a PDF file for ~ 30 years. It includes emergency contacts, pictures of medical insurance cards, immunizations, meds, allergies, procedures, docs, etc.
I keep that PDF doc in my 'files' on the phone so it's handy for when the doc asks when I had X or Y. I also keep a QR code taped to the back of my dog tag that's a direct link to a copy of the file in the cloud. That way emergency responders can get access to the info if I'm incapacitated.

Use a “notes” app for miscellaneous notes, but for appointments you should certainly use a calendar app, which is designed for exactly that purpose. It’s very easy to add an appointment- who, where, when- and put reminders- so your phone will buzz you when you want a reminder. I usually do one day before and one hour before.
