I protect my personal devices with a vpn while traveling... especially on hotel public wifi.
I have recently started bringing along a google mini just to make music easier.
Not a good choice.
A recent hotel visit involved porn audio being injected into our mini. Unplugged I did.
No more minis on our trips.

sns3guppyI've never heard of anything like that. I spend a good portion of the year in hotel rooms all over the globe; I've never encountered that.
Something had to have been requested, or you had to have connected to something you didn't intend to connect.

Blume9mmcould have been picking up the folks next door that had left their device on while recreating......
Back when I was doing a lot of chimney repair and had a helper we used wireless radio head sets to communicate and while up on roofs you could pick up all kinds of things around a neighborhood from baby monitors...

You left your peering open and they cast to your Mini.
