sigfreundFor those that hate this time of year for many reasons. I have some good news.
What I dislike about this time of year is that our highs in the mid-70s attract all the lowlanders. Otherwise it’s perfect. Because I don’t have any choice but to hold training sessions outdoors during our long winter and I can’t just mope around the house, that’s perfect as well. The spring and autumn are colder than the summer, but warmer than the winter plus being changes of the seasons, so they’re perfect too.
Nothing else is perfect, though (except for having my own range), so stay away. Especially in the summer. Unless you come to spend money.

old rugged crossFor those wearing weary of the dam hot summer. The news is getting better. August is approaching the half way point. Dog days of summer they call it.
Still damned hot. But the days are getting shorter and quicker. So not so hot for so long. September cannot get here quick enough. I can't wait to get this one in the rearview mirror.

If I had it my way, I'd spend every summer for the rest of my life in Alaska and the other 9 months in Texas.
At least the daily rainstorms this week have kept the heat to a reasonable high80s-low90s

ArtieSThe daily thunderstorms came yesterday at 2100. We had to put the horses up. They thinned out at 0100. We had to put the horses out. I don't think I have had an uninterrupted night of sleep this week.
Afternoon storms are fine. This late evening stuff is killing me.

GustoferIt's been hot as hell and bone dry here for the past six weeks or so. I don't care for summer, so I'm ready for fall to arrive yesterday.
The past few nights, though, have been noticeably crisper which is a good sign.
Now, if I could just sit down and talk with Mother Nature and convince her to make it October/November all year long, I'd be really happy.

sigspecopsI certainly hate these hot Texas summers but the older I get the more I don't like winter either. I just want fall and spring, with a sunset around 8:30 each day.

610I can take the heat a lot better than I can the cold. When it's cold....I'm cold alllll over. I grew up without A/C; I can remember when we got the first swamp cooler in house. It worked pretty good as long as the humidity was low (which it usually was on the South Plains of Texas during the summer). Even this summer when we had 100+ degree days that's better than the -10 degree wind chill we had last winter. My ole bones can't take that.

Todd HuffmanI grew up in a brick house with no A/C and a western facing exposure with absolutely no shade. It was miserable. I run the air now and gladly pay the power bill, and I can't wait for fall to arrive.
