I truly hate this time of year. Always have. Hot, dry, bugs, etc. etc. etc.

Looking at sunrise and sunset tables. By this time next week we start to really gain some momentum towards later sunrises and earlier sunsets. Thank the good Lord. I cannot wait to get this behind us. Argh! Wink

Hot n dry sounds nice as Houston's hot n humid kicks my ass.

If I had it my way, I'd spend every summer for the rest of my life in Alaska and the other 9 months in Texas.

So in a week we will lose 8 minutes of daylight?

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I grew up in Oklahoma. Hot, humid, miserable summers. Latter I moved to San Diego. Didn't realize there was any place in the world that was just plain wonderful to live? Next went to Salt Lake City. Great winters and practically no summer at all. Went next to Denver and it was ok, at least it wasn't hot! Now I'm back in Oklahoma. I really don't know why the early "settlers" made camp here. It just gets better if you keep going west.

Summer for me is just not fun. Back in the day before air conditioning it was just something to survive. I'll take a good cold winter anytime. I know how to survive it.

Another member here that I shoot with and I were just talking about the heat today. I know it's worse in Houston than DFW, but it's still pretty freakin' hot. So uncomfortable. I've been here almost all my life and I don't think I'll ever enjoy summer.

Charlie, Oklahoma isn't so bad. You just got spoiled elsewhere. Wink
It's hot. Thank the lord for air conditioning!

I don't like the heat but I like the late sunsets.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." The weather in NC is miserably hot from June to October. Humid too.

I miss summer on Long Island. It usually was from August 3rd to August 28th. Then it got cool again. Wink

Got that right. I LOVE the long days, loathe the short days of December/January.

Thanks,

We'll lose 12/week. Winter is coming.

I love this time of year. The most hated time is the dead of winter when I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark.

I too enjoy the warm seasons. It is a beautiful time of the year. Green grass and trees everywhere. Magnificent. I can't stand the cold of winter, along with the uglyNess of the landscape. Even the snow only stays beautiful for a couple days, then it turns to a dirty gray. Snowbirds get to take advantage of nature's best the whole year round.
