I currently have spectrum cable and it sucks....its like csble was in the 80's. Really hard to set up series recordings. Sloooooooow internet. I had comcast Xfinity at my last house. Expensive but sooooo intuitive to use. Not available at my current house. They did just put in Att fiber optic cable. The say I can get 1000 bpm speed with 250 channels for 128 month. Is that any good? Is it REALLY 1000bpm or only on tuesdays between 2pm an 5pm?

If it were ne, i'd go high speed internet only and streem all my movies and tv. But the wife hates that. End. Of. Discussion. (You know, what wives call compromise..

Daughter and S I L have it, love it. Speed is consistently good.

Have had it at office for two years. Quite an improvement over copper wire. Does not drop the connection, supports several laptops, phone and desktop consistently.

I have had AT&T gigabit fiber for maybe a year.

I don't think I've ever gotten less than 950 mbps on a speed test.

Of course, normal consumer wifi doesn't have anywhere close to that much bandwidth - you'll only see actual gigabit speed over a decent wired connection.

ATT Fiber does produce near 1GB (using their test) on a hard wired computer within a few feet of the modem.

I’ve been using ATT fiber for about a year and the speed is as advertised. I stream everything.

I typically get 980-1000 mbps using third-party speed tests plugged into any ethernet port in my house. It sometimes drops a bit lower but has always been above 950.

We have 100mbps up/down ATT fiber at our house for 49/mo. and watch everything over the internet.

I'm getting 923Mb/756Mb. The upload is what separates the service from cable. It's fast. I have their "gig" service. I don't need all this bandwidth but the gig service, their highest tier, is the only tier that doesn't have a bandwidth cap. The lower tiers do. On the lower tiers you can pay to remove the bandwidth cap but they charge extra.

I work in this industry for a large company managing our bandwidth. Even with 20+ years of experience the telcos and MSO's make this extremely complicated for the average consumer. It's more difficult than it should be. Best of luck.

But keep in mind, when they bundle their cable service they are going to make it difficult to figure out what you are really paying. Also, they significantly discount their service months 1-12. Months 13-24 your cost will go up so you need to ask what it will cost after the promotional 12 months are up. Off promotion their cable tv service is expensive.

I much prefer having redundancy. I use Dish network for cable. Using a satellite service means if internet goes down you still have your cable tv service up and vice versa. Dish service is cheaper than ATT or Comcast. They'll also let you get basic programming and add movie channels. ATT wants you to or makes you get premium service to get the movie channels. Just read the fine print, and ask or figure out what your monthly costs will be after that first 12 month promotional period. They will make it difficult to figure this out so do your homework.
