AglifterPaying simple project for a woodworker
I lost my journal cover, of many years.
Not sure how, but it’s gone - and, frankly, given certain connections it had with my ex, it may be for the best.
However, I need to have a backer board made for its replacement.
I made the prior one by tracing out the pattern on a cheap particle board clip board, then using a jig saw and sander.
A) I don’t have those tools in my condo in Miami Beach.
B) The USA clipboard I bought it much thicker. Possibly too thick to fit, but gave me an idea.
Would someone on here be able to cut the clipboard/other thin rigid board into shape, and inlet a relief so that I could fit an AirTag in it?
One of my acquaintances suggested backing it with carbon fiber sheet, to stiffen/strengthen it, but he has a stamping company and is familiar with many manufacturing techniques.

BlackTalonJHPInstead of a clipboard you could probably use a sheet of kydex or a piece of hard fiberboard.
What are the dimensions?

AglifterIt’s easier to send a template - the journal cover is meant for mead composition books - still fairly reasonable inserts, and tough enough. (AKA, I can cut the cover off a mead composition book and send it to them/get one delivered from Walmart.)
I don’t trust my measurement skills that much.
Fiberboard might work better than Kydex. If it’s too thin, I’d worry about it cutting into the leather. I never cut the old one, but it feels soft. Gfeller calls it kip leather.

BlackTalonJHPSend me a picture and rough dimensions. Not going to make any promises but I have several exotic woods on hand and even some black goat skin leather. I have kydex too but I don't really enjoy working with kydex.

Aglifter9 3/4” is the right length.
I think 6 3/4” is the proper width for the backer. (There’s a lot of the interior margin I don’t use/some gap after the end of the notebook but that looks about right.)
