My wife and I will be spending a few days in Wildwood in August. We are thinking of going up to Atlantic City one night to see the Casinos and have dinner. I have heard there are some terrible Casino buffets and some really nice Casino restaurants. Does any one have any suggestions? I would not mind a good buffet that had good crab legs, but I think she wants more of a fine dining experience. How about good restaurants in Wildwood?

It has been years but we stayed at Trumps. Yes I know it is now closed. We went to a high end seafood place just out front of Trump's Casino I think it was called Docks. Not a Casino Restraunt but seafood was excellent and had a really nice atmosphere. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. Do you plan on wagering and getting comps? If so, your dining experience is determined by how much you wager per bet and how long you play.

In Atlantic City, you have a few choices, depending on what cuisine you're after. I can't in good conscience recommend any of the buffets. However- Docks Oyster House for seafood. Bobby Flays (at the Borgata) or Gallaghers for steak. Girasole for Italian fare. Buddakan if Asian is your thing. Knife and Fork Inn for American fare. And I've heard good things about Gordon Ramsays Pub & Grill, but haven't tried it yet. The only place I've eaten recently in Wildwood is Poppi's Brick Oven. The food is great, but fine dining it ain't. If you don't want to drive that far, there are plenty of worthwhile destinations in Cape May, Avalon and Stone Harbor. suaviter in modo, fortiter in re

You can't go home again |
If you go to AC, do yourself a favor and go straight to the Borgata. You'll miss the boardwalk but with so many hotels closed there it's not what it used to be and you can always drive over there if you want to. At the Borgata you've got several great options for fine dining and they have a really nice Buffet as well. Izakaya is great for asian small plates and it's really delicious food. Ask to sit looking out to the casino, it's fun to people watch. Bobby Flay Steak is an experience, I've had so many great dinners there and no matter what I try the food is always great. Wolfgang Puck's American Bistro is like a less flashy version of Bobby Flays. It's great as well and less pricey. Old Homestead for steak and Angeline for Italian. The last two I have never been to, I will be trying Angeline the next time we go, I hear it's great. Old Homestead probably is as well but Bobby Flay's makes a great steak too. Beside those two, I have been to the Borgata, the Waterclub and every restaurant I mentioned including the buffet many times, you'll enjoy whatever you choose there. See the comedy or Burlesque show and do a little gambling while your there as well. We live about 1.5 hours away and do a one night get away every couple of months. I love it there, so many great memories. --------------------------------------- Life Member NRA “If you realize that all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold on to. There are a lot of pretty nice restaurants right now in AC and the other Jersey Shore towns nearby, so you don't have to go to any crappy buffets. This is the food critic for the Phila Inquirer who covers the South Jersey Shore, maybe something listed in these articles will be something for you to try: At the Shore, a wave of new restaurants Dining at the Shore on A.C.'s timeless recipe: Big-name casino chefs, old-school Italian flavors, and fresh booze
