Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was escorted away from Senate Republicans' weekly press conference after appearing to have difficulty speaking.
McConnell began addressing reporters on the chamber's progress on the annual defense bill before freezing up. Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), the No. 3 Republican in the Senate, gently steered McConnell back to his office, only for the minority leader to return minutes later to brief the press.

What is wrong with politicians that can't give up power? The last thing I want at that age is to be dealing with that kind of shit.
As Para said, I hope to be sitting in the park feeding the pigeons with my grandson at that age.

I’m not a fan of him but it’s sad to see. We really need term limits. Who’s up next if he can’t continue?
Possible, considering they usually only last a few minutes, and he came back a few minutes later and finished the press conference.
Or could just be as simple as his blood pressure or blood sugar dipping too low, or being dehydrated. Seemingly minor things like that can have amplified effects when you're 80+ years old.
Regardless, not an encouraging sign for an 81 year old tasked with making high-level national decisions. Might be what it takes to make him recognize it's time to hand the reins off to someone a bit younger and healthier.

Currently John Thune of South Dakota is the Minority Whip to McConnell's Minority Leader (whip is kinda like the "vice-leader"), but there would end up being a vote taken among the Senate Republicans to elect a new Minority Leader.

They should see if a firmware upgrade is available.

Maybe on of our medical professional could chime in but I was wondering if he was having a TIA?
Edit: I didn’t see Oddball’s comment above.

I would have thought by now that someone here would have suggested a TIA.

He may have simply re-booted himself. I doubt, that at his age, the firmware is no longer active (not even inspired by Tia Carrere), now it seems the wetware is deteriorating too.

Hate it for the guy, really did look like a TIA, my dad had those... (Sorry Para)
What I'm hearing is that, in KY, if he were to be replaced, the current governor (a Dem in this case) does the appointment, but the replacement has to come from the current senators party. That person must come from a list of three names provided by the executive committee of the departing senator's state party.
Had an assignment to photograph Strom Thurmond at the end of his career, he did the same thing in front of me. His aides had to place a pen in his hand and they nicely order me to make the photo and leave.
Term Limitations.

Not a fan but he did keep Merrick Garland from becoming a Supreme Court Justice at the end of O's term and that flipped the court once Trump got in. Got to be worth something.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Agreed. You get escorted to the hospital if you have a TIA. Coming back to do a briefing is not the usual MO.

I don't believe in term limits for legislators because you end up putting power into the hands of unelected bureaucrats and lobbyists who can just wait out legislators who they don't like.
However, I am sick and tired of congressional office holders acting like being in Congress is akin to a peerage title.
