Looking for an EMPTY jumbo (family) sized first aid bag that won’t break the bank
Simply put, we really need something bigger than the red tackle box we’ve even using for years when we go camping. I’ve started to look around and man are they expen$ive and most everything comes with their idea of what I need inside. What I’m looking for is a jumbo size bag or two large bags that have compartments with see through sides, containers, whatever. I’ve been looking online and am shocked at the price of everything I’m finding. So, I thought I would see what the SIGforum brain trust suggests. For reference, I don’t want a stocked bag. I have what we need and know how to use so I don’t want a stocked bag.

I’ve looked at this but is seems pricey:

https://www.amazon.com/LINE2de...ustrial&sr=1-1-fkmr3

And these to go inside:

But that seems like a lot of money. Maybe I’m wrong and need to buck up.

Thanks!

I think you're going wrong by buying a "medical" bag.

I'd just find a bag you like and use its existing pockets combined with those little pouches (really like those, BWT) and something like a plastic fishing tackle case to organize your stuff.

I haven't bought a "medical" bag since early EMT days. I buy a pack I like and set it up. Not saying that my way is any cheaper, my last pack was a 5.11 Rush 24, which is more than the one you linked, but for some reason adding "medical" to a bag means adding $$$, kinda like when you add "marine rated" to a part, suddenly it's worth more.

Something as simple as an Amazon camera bag gives you lots of adjustibility, if that's what you're looking for.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

The set of 4 clear pouches for $24 wasn’t too bad. Then you got to buy everything to put in them. Get costly real quick.

I picked up one of these at Basspro last week. It's a little overkill for what I wanted it for but it a great bag.

As someone in the industry, don't bother with a bag specifically designed for medical use. They're stupidly expensive for no reason. The gear bag that olfuzzy posted is a great alternative for a great price. Or get a large backpack like this https://smile.amazon.com/gp/pr..._title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have one that I use for other stuff and I love it.

What are you planning on carrying with you?

Basic stuff for a large family. Rx and over the counter meds, band aids, medical tape and bandages for sprains, sunburn aloe gel, sunscreen, arm splint, bug bite cream, instant ice packs, anti itch cream, quick clot, two tourniquets, gauze, sterile water, emergency blanket, tweezers, gloves, etc. Nothing technical except the tourniquets.

In the LS1 house we use a medium size duffle bag (camouflaged of course). Within the duffle are multiple quart and gallon sized Ziploc bags containing different elements such as:

2x2 and 4x4 gauze
Medical tape
Suture kit (no local anesthetic though)
Suture removal kit
metal tools (scissors, forceps, tweezers, etc)
Ace bandages
Cold packs (squeeze and freeze type)
Neosporen, Bactine, saline spray wash, aspirin, etc

And other items.

The duffle is large enough to hold what we need and the Ziploc bags keep it all organized and dry.

If you would like, I have a London Bridge Trading military med ruck that I haven't used in years.
It looks exactly like this one .

Let me know. No obligation and free of charge.

That's very generous and would work with the ziplock bag suggestions. I looked for your email but didn't see one. I have one in my profile if you could send me a message.
Thank you!

On sale for $25 LaPolice gear bail out bag. Use one for first aid along with baby stuff for the grandsons and have the jumbo one for a range bag and have room for binoculars and staple gun and plenty of ammo and guns

I have used one to carry my personal gear at the sheriff dept for about 12 years the bottom corners of the bag have worn out from use but otherwise it is still in good shape

Thanks for posting this Voshterkoff. These look like a deal. They’re unused surplus medical bags. This seller also has numerous other nifty items at reasonable prices.

I use a waterproof boat bag from Bass Pro.
It doesn't have any dividers but it will hold a lot. Very strong zipper.

Can I suggest a backpack? That way you are more likely to have it in case of emergency while out and about? Those duffels are annoying as crap to carry for more than just to the car. Put it in a backpack and you'll have something you can take anywhere. Having it in the car doesnt help when you are a mile from the car.

BB61, I don't remember if you're based in Utah, but here's a medical supply house that sells quantity and quality supplies. I used them years ago to outfit our first aid kit. As others suggested, a duffle bag with ziplock bags are easiest. And you can you can make smaller kits for kids/teens to stash in the glove box or backpacks.
