I fired up the truck today and my phone connected and played music just fine. My attempt to use the FM or AM radio portion failed. I'd never seen this issue before. The Sirius radio side would work as well. A quick internet search said the Sync portion needed to be reset. Hell, I didn't even know I had that. As per a wonderful YouTube video, I located fuse in position 29, removed and then reinstalled it. Upon powering up the radio it said an update was being installed. Once completed, presto, everything worked as normal. I miss the simpler days...

Anyone else had stuff just quit like this?

PS, the fuse panel located on the passenger side kick panel is a back wrenching treat to open and access.

For about a month, I can’t use voice commands to make phone calls. I can bring up the screen with the number pad, manually punch the number in, and it will call out. I used to be able to press the button on the steering wheel and just say “Call Dad”. Mine’s a 2015, so maybe fuse 29 will work.

I was having a minor issue on my 2016 F-350 as well but I don’t use it very often and it’s currently tucked away at my shop in VA. I’ll have to look into it when I get up there.
Thanks!

Happens from time to time. Especially when Apple or Android updates their software. Causes some glitches in the vehicle software and they need to update.

In my old '18 work Durango, the infotainment system would sometimes just lock up when you started the car. The screen would come on, but you'd just get the Dodge logo and the radio would play on whatever station and volume it was set to when you turned it off, but you couldn't change anything. There were also a bunch of phone and HVAC controls that you couldn't access when it did this.

There was no button you could hold down to reset it, and no single fuse to pull. The only way you could get it to reset was to shut the car off and leave it off for about 10 minutes. And it would happen randomly but often enough to be really annoying...maybe 10% of the time you started the car. Dodge dealer was no help. Their only solutions were to replace the entire unit ($$$$$) or to update the firmware, which didn't fix it. Along with the host of other mechanical issues that car had, I don't miss that POS at all.

Yes sir, this is what is required to get things synced back up and functioning. Watch yer knuckles when opening/closing the fuse cover. Always some blood spilled it seems....

As convenient as they might be, I see unsolicited OTA (over the air) software updates as an invitation to abuse by malevolent parties, and perhaps even by the manufacturers themselves.

The availability of the growing number of cars on the road that are likely vulnerable to attacks seems to be fertile ground for malevolent black hatters. Kind of a mystery why more exploits haven't been encountered.
