Just a little Friday levity. Apparently classic sayings aren't being passed down through the generations.

So good.

There's a reason why Wheel of Fortune comes on after Jeopardy...

Depends on where you live. Here in Orlando its the correct sequence. In South Florida, Wheel is on at 7 and Jeopardy at 7:30.

I have to hand it to Sajak for not breaking up at this epic fail. Not that he has ever shown the slightest hint of a sense of humor.

I think he had tweeted about it or something and basically said that these are normal people under a lot of stress and these things happen sometimes.

I think they got rattled when it wasn't "hat" and just couldn't get past it. It's like when you see someone in the bonus round decide (sometimes obviously incorrectly) that they know one of the words and then all of their guesses are based on that one word.

This one is arguably not as bad as the classic "Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa" one.

I agree. Wouldn't fault them. I've watched the show and sometimes just got stuck on something very obvious. Smack my head when the answer comes up. Under pressure you can just go blank.

These go to eleven.

You know, thinking on it some, that's probably a pretty fair analysis. Knowing something and being able to recall or perform it under stress can be difficult. I probably would've been a litte stressed or uncomfortable by the lights, cameras, or just knowing that I was front and center before a few million people.

Years ago I gave a few local community talks, and the first couple went ok, but on the way to one I came up on a fairly serious traffic accident and I saw a good bit of blood in the snow. I don't quite know why, but despite having cleaned my own fish and field dressed my own game, that brief image of blood shook me up enough that when I gave the talk a little later it was absolutely terrible. So much so that I didn't accept the speaking fee when it was offered. I was terribly embarrassed, and gun shy about doing any more talks after that incident.

After you mentioned it I had to look it up. Uh, yeah, this one is pretty embarrassing too.

I don’t think the Regis puzzle was embarrassing. The first guy inadvertently added an R to Philbin. I don’t think anyone realized it, including him. Then everyone thought the correct answer was wrong and just tried other answers.

These go to eleven.
