It seems to me there are three solutions to our problems: We can kill each other in the streets until only one side remains. We've had two world wars in the last century, countless regional conflicts. The last big one did solve some truly significant and unavoidable problems, at least temporarily, but it created new problems which linger to this day.
We can be destroyed by nature, we can be destroyed by a gigantic asteroid or comet. There's no coming back from that.
Lastly, but unfortunately, least likely:

Galatians 5:13-15 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.

Many of you will think I'm pulling your leg, but I am not. I couldn't be more serious. We are on the precipice of catastrophe. We have the solutions to our problems, but humanity is self-destructive. Our "advanced civilization" has existed for a mere fraction of a fraction of a nanosecond on a cosmic time scale. We are fools to come this far only to throw all of it away. We could fix it. We won't.
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye". The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, pilot and author, lost on mission, July 1944, Med Theatre.
And yes I believe we need to pump the brakes a bit and a little more love would go a LONG way.

If I am going to be destroyed, I'd a lot prefer that it be by love than anything else. Not a flippant response to Para's original post, but it would be very nice if civilization/evolution/history at least gave it a try.

Slightly off topic. The school our kids have all attended sing "What a Wonderful World" in their little spring concert every year. Last year we had to watch it via Zoom from home, because COVID/social distancing/etc. It was such a bittersweet moment, just like that song is always played in juxtaposition with B-52 hammering the snot out of Vietnam or napalm scorching forests.
I think after watching my little 6 year old daughter "sing" that song to hand signals while her and her class all wore masks it will forever being out the waterworks for me. I pray our kids will find a wonderful world some day without masks, vaccines, and brain pokes.

You are 100% correct that we are at the edge right now. Yesterday didn't help at all and probably even divided most more than they already were. I don't have any answers.
I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.
