It all depends on how much of a fire you'd like to light under the incumbents' asses. I'm still debating whether to vote for Abbot for governor (who seems likely to win) or to vote for the fire-breather opposing him just to send a message.

I would highly suggest voting for the craziest right-winger running when voting for judges.

Asking this from waaaay outside, but which candidate makes it least likely the Democrats would win? That's who I'd vote for.

Abbott for sure. A solid republican with strong conservatives values.

using a vote to send a message seems like a great way for the opponent to win

in all cases, you're voting for the lesser of the evils, or the least worst

This being a primary election, you want to vote as a Republican. In regards to the state wide or federal positions that are open, you want the strongest likely candidate. You don’t want Don Huffines running against Beto O’Rourk. Abbot is likely to win anyway, but anyone else is a gamble the Left will show up to bend the tallies their way in a closer than needs be race. It needs to be a slam dunk.

The AG race is the most concerning to me. Paxton has a little baggage, but Bush can’t be trusted and Louie Gohmert isn’t advertising like he really wants it (at least in the DFW area). Guzman would be OK, but her and Bush are going to reap enough votes that there’ll likely be a run off with Paxton. Either of them (Bush or Guzman) might draw interest from the Left and provide an opportunity.

4 page discussion of it here. It started out Governor discussion but expanded to primary.

My local election board has a sample ballot. I used it to research the people running….you should do the same.

I will be voting for the incumbents. They don’t get everything right all the time but they are far better than the unknowns like Huffines who won’t answer how he intends to do away with property taxes….big red flag for me.

Also, the ballots don’t show who is whom (ie incumbent) it’s just who registered first is the order listed on the ballot.

This primary election sure had a lot of names on both sides of the isle I had never heard of. Do your research and vote for who you want to go into the election. Someone I voted for may not be a person you wanted to vote for.

100% agree. I also wish they said who the incumbent was. Something like Governor is obvious but for others I did research, made a list of names, and brought it with me.

There's one thing to be said for Paxton - he's already in trouble and therefore will already terrified of the prospect of pissing off the voters even after the election.

The top of the ticket is easy. I went with the incumbents. Research the local candidates.
