Need a new thermometer for my BGE Login/Join

Well, after 7 or 8 years in the Florida humidity, the thermometer on my BGE craped it today.

Has anyone here ever replaced one? Use the factory option, are there other, better options?

Don't need it too much for grilling, but it is essential for smoking.

Thanks for any tips.

I replaced the original with a BGE thermometer a few years ago. It needed to be calibrated slightly but has functioned well since.

Thanks! I will likely give that a go. Any tips or tricks to getting the old one out?

Are you sure you want to replace it? Those things are plus/minus 50 degrees and it's measuring temperature in a location different from your food (especially when smoking or cooking indirect).

I've had a BGE since 2012 and just use the dial thermometer as a reference - yep it's heating up or yep it's steady. I use Thermoworks smoke for pit temp (I put mine right on the grate and keep 2" from food) and separate probe for food temp. I used to use a Maverick but the Thermoworks is far superior.

It's held in by what's basically a pinch clip. It's probably gunked up and might take a little twisting and persuasion to get it out.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Don’t bother replacing it, they are not very accurate. Check out thermoworks, the signals thermometer with their billows basically turns your BGE into a wifi cooker. Adjust temp from anywhere, nice for any longer smokes like brisket or pork shoulder.

I recommend Tel-Tru, made in U.S. and good stuff:
