PHPaulApple People Step In - iRobot vac question
I've made several posts about my elderly friends that I do what I can for.
She's a world-class neatnik and can't stand the idea that she's not able to vacuum daily any more. The cleaning lady comes in once a week, but that's not enough.
One of their kids bought them an iRobot vacuum which, on the surface, seems like a reasonable solution. I worry a little about another layer of technology for them to cope with, but whatever.
I went over today to set it up and one of the features they particularly want is the app to set hours of operation so it can trundle around and clean while they're sleeping, among other things. Herein lies the difficulty.
Their iPhones are older models running iOS10.x.x and the app requires iOS12. I don't know beans about anything Apple but I suspect their phones are too old to run iOS12. I checked and the phone reports that the version of 10 that they have is up to date. I don't know what iPhone they have nor how to check.
I looked online and there are a couple of Win10 apps that are supposed to talk to the vac. Running it from her laptop would be a MUCH better option in any event. I didn't download anything yet because they're third party apps and I have no idea which will be best or how functional they are.
I will get in touch with iRobot tech support tomorrow but I thought I'd check here to see what advice I might get. Anybody running the app from a WIN10 PC?

V-TailiPhone 5s and newer can run iOS 12.

Black92LXThey won’t want it running while they are trying to sleep.
They still bump into things and are actually pretty annoying if you are trying to sleep.
I initially set ours up to work around 2am.
That was a bad idea.
We don’t have an iRobot but a different brand that uses no app so I can’t help.
