PASigSecuring the TV remote.
My 4 and 6 year old boys regularly lose the damn Roku remote, my solution is to buy $6 replacements on Amazon and the iPhone app has a virtual remote as well. I too have no idea where they disappear to, into a black hole apparently.

hberttmankSecuring it to a table with a cable would work but it still ends up being a training issue. I am a grandpa so I know a little bit about kids. They lose the remote, they lose the TV is a strong deterrent.

whanson_wiOur TV remote spent quite a long while attached to the entertainment center with a lanyard.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

flashguyDon't let them use the remote? They're too young to be controlling what they watch, anyway.

The kid?
I'm getting a Foghorn Leghorn and the dog vibe from this. Put the remote just out of the kid's reach.

While I agree with the sentiment, the consequences of doing this should fall on the child. But the reality is that having the child occupied by the television often serves the interests of Mom and Dad even more than the child. Whether it's giving Mom and Dad a little alone time, or just occupying the child while the parents are busy with other things, the TV can sometimes be a parents best friend.
Of course you can take this too far. Not suggesting anyone turn over your children's minds to the idiot box.

Rey HRHI have the same trouble in my house about losing the remote and there's only me and my wife.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

The guy at the counter said the broomstick method hadn’t failed in several years since they started using it. Make it big, make it stout, make it obvious.
Or get the Tile/key finder thing.
Years ago, probably the mid 80s we had a local gas station that attached the bathroom key to a hubcap. Not sure why the bathroom was nasty enough that people rarely asked for the key.

He's lost one roku remote as well. I now use the roku app on my phone for it and I don't let him use my phone.

I agree on this point and it only happens on Saturday mornings when I'm at work. But his mama (my ex) "needs" her rest and does it so he can be occupied when she sleeps in.
I've found some not kid friendly stuff on YouTube even with the kid filters on. Worst one was an animation talking about the mob and how to hide a dead body. He's not allowed to watch YouTube by himself anymore.
