Is it possible to extract any info from my dead S4? I would like to get my texts, phone numbers, calendar stuff if possible. My phone no longer responds when plugging it in to a charger or computer. I'm not sure this is even possible other than taking the phone to get repaired... ...Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, was just a freight train coming your way... | ||

You may already know if this doesn't apply to you but doesn't Samsung have their own cloud which uploads your phone's data for easy transport to a new phone? I take it you don't use Google contacts, email, and calendar? I know some people don't like the intrusiveness of Google. Well about what I figured. I'm going to put my SIM card in someone else's phone and hopefully get my contacts. Luckily photos are all on micro sd. I don't think I have any cloud backup unfortunately, but that may be something to look into for my new phone. Hopefully I can figure out my calendar stuff. Can you sign into the gmail account you presumably used to set up the phone, from a PC or laptop. The contacts might be there. Samsung does offer some cloud features, but you'd of had to set it up, in my experience. | |||

You don't actually explicitly set it up with Android phones. If you entered a gmail account when you set up your S4, your contacts are probably all in your gmail contact list. Calendar items use the google calendar, so you should be ok there as well. If you get another Android phone, those items will pretty much show up on your new phone, once you enter the same email account when setting it up. If your phone was with Verizon(you never mentioned a provider), that's how they configured S4's by default I'm pretty sure. I don't think they use a SIM card for anything except setting the phone up on their network, can't speak for other providers. If you were using a memory card, your photos should be stored there, I believe by default. Ya I looked in Google and don't see anything. I have AT&T and don't believe I used the e-mail to set up the account. Was hoping I stored my phone number to sim card, but maybe they stopped that awhile back.
