Democratic lawmaker Rep. Jamaal Bowman was issued a criminal summons by the DC Superior Court, after he was caught on CCTV pulling the fire alarm in the House office building on Oct. 1 while Democrats were trying to delay a House vote on the stopgap bill (which eventually passed at the 11th hour).

Bowman - who founded a school that would have held several fire drills per year, wants us to believe he mistook this fire alarm.



In response, Bowman said on Wednesday: "I’m thankful for the quick resolution from the District of Columbia Attorney General’s office on this issue and grateful that the United States Capitol Police General Counsel’s office agreed I did not obstruct nor intend to obstruct any House vote or proceedings," adding "I am responsible for activating a fire alarm, I will be paying the fine issued, and look forward to these charges being ultimately dropped. I think we all know that Republicans will attempt to use this to distract everyone from their mess."

At the time of the evacuation, Democrat lawmakers in the House were working to delay a vote on a 45-day funding bill to keep federal agencies open. They said they needed time to review the 71-page bill that Republicans had just released to avoid a shutdown.

He ABSOLUTELY intended to disrupt an official proceeding and delay the vote.

What he did was so wrong on so many levels.

Notice he only apologized for activating the alarm. Not admitting why he did it.

Or he could have done a Smollet and played the game out to the bitter end and beyond. There are always complaints that the left is never held responsible; take the win.

He should be sentenced to community service, such as mopping the floors of the Capitol. Of course some folks would scream racism. He lacks sound judgement and should be censured by the House.

Paying the fine and having charges dropped? Uh, isn’t paying the fine an admission of guilt?

But, being who he is the court will probably get creative with his plea and punishment.

I think that's mis-reporting, UNLESS D.C. has some kind of misdemeanor diversion or delayed-adjudication program.

Unbelievable miscarriage of justice. He was absolutely trying to disrupt the proceedings. If he were a Republican it is an absolute fact that he would be charged with felonies.

So the Dems needed time to read a 71 page bill.... I kind of recall a 2000 plus page bill that had to be passed so we could find out what was in it. More bullshit!

It was the dem's strategy all along. This joker was the freshman congressman "patsy" ordered to pull the alarm and take the heat for the party.

He did the crime and took his orders from a higher-level crime boss.

He pays the fine and moves up in the family.

I see a committee chairmanship in his future.

After his wrists heal from the slaps.

There is no concern about committing a crime when the prosecution is rigged in your favor.

Look how long it took for him to be charged. I'm sure a behind the scene deal was already made before the charges were even filed. He'll skate on this one as we all predicting.

Bowman just another petty criminal in Congress.

Just released footage of Bowman tampering with the big, red signs that say EMERGENCY and ALARM just before actually pulling the alarm, which he says he mistook for the door handle, or perhaps a voting lever? Perhaps he forgot to read the sign he was holding in his hand, or the one he knocked to the floor?



And why did they wait until after his guilty plea before releasing this clip?

He backs federal legislation that would create a $14 trillion reparations program to aid the descendants of enslaved Black people and people of African descent…

There are about 42 million African Americans in the United States, representing 12% of our nation’s population, according to the 2020 census. That means the proposed reparations program could deliver roughly $333,000 per person. Bowman said it could be paid over decades.

“Who says the $14 trillion needs to be paid out in one shot?” said Bowman. “It might be possible for it to be paid out over 5 or 10 or 20 years. You could take that $333,000 and break it up into monthly checks over X amount of time. There are creative ways to do the right thing and do what needs to be done.”
