Well it’s done. After worrying about it for a while I went in and got snipped today. It wasn’t that bad. It’s kinda like getting stung by a bee on your junk but that’s the worst part. Actually, the bee that stung me over the summer in Dominican Republic hurt more than the vasectomy thus far.

It been about an hour and half and no pain yet. I wonder how long it’ll be until the numbing meds wear off and I start to feel sore? So far I’m shocked by how mobile I am and the absolute lack of pain. Hopefully it’ll stay that way.

Be ready with a bag of frozen peas. Big Grin

Worst part for me was pulling up the cord to snip it. Felt like the doc was pulling your insides out.

Not so sure about that. He just eliminated a major form of entertainment during the quarantine. Now he'll be reduced to plinking looters with a .22....

My dad didn’t follow the docs recommendation. He paid a hard price. If I were you, I’d go sit down now and start icing the area, and I wouldn’t move all weekend.

Keep it CLEAN!

'Twas not that bad, I wouldn't go to work the next day or do any heavy lifting or extra curricular activities for a week.

If you behave and keep calm the first day or two, it shouldn't be horrible.

Keep it CLEAN!

I got a vasectomy back in August. I, too, was happily surprised with how simple the process was.

A couple days of laying low / icing and I was good to go.

Good luck with it and take it easy for a couple of days. I did the snip/"no cut" method (which I think is typical now) about 17 or 18 years ago on a Friday and was back to work like normal on Monday.

I was snipped on a Thursday, took Friday off to rest and no real discomfort.

Saturday I was forced to watch my kid's indoor track meet, where we sat on plastic, pull out, gymnasium bleacher seats. I was in agony for the rest of the day and most of Sunday. Ice was friend, as was Motrin and Tylenol.

Good luck to you, don't push it!

I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

No peas. Have you seen grocery stores? This man has to tough it out with good old fashioned ice.

Best wishes on your recovery. Hope the discomfort is minimal.

I still have the two bags of peas from mine. I use them as ice packs. Alternate when one thaws. It's been 5 years!

Make sure to do the samples over the next few months to get the all clear. We basically parked in the garage of the hospital, collected the sample and walked it in.

I was working at Bell Labs when I had mine done, many years ago.

Huge parking lot, a few thousand people worked at that facility. I went to the company doc to request a temporary ID to park in the handicapped area, to minimize the walk into the building.

He did not want to give me one, telling me that the day after he had his, he ran a half marathon.

I said to him, "You might not have any feeling below your waist, but I hurt like hell. I get paid for sick time, so I have no problem staying home. You can authorize the parking ID and I'll work, or you can refuse and I won't work, your choice."

He authorized it.

The first day or two was fine for me. I remember waking up from a nap on the 3rd day and it was 100x more painful than the previous few days. All in all its mostly just an inconvenience.
