Regarding indoor range safety, the one I normally shoot at has at least two RSOs on duty covering about 8 lanes (there are several rooms with 8-12 lanes each, and a rifle room with three 100-yard lanes). They do allow you to shoot fast if you wish, unlike the older place I used to go that restricted you to no more than 1 shot per second, but they are dang strict on gun safety, and will call you out immediately if they see the slightest infraction! Last time I went, I took my Winchester 9422XTR lever rifle. When I pulled it out of the case and set it down on the rifle rack, I forgot to open the action and leave it open. They called me on that one right away! I did check the chamber before setting it down so I knew it was unloaded, but failed to leave it open where others could see... _____________________________ Bill R. North Alabama

I routinely go to two different indoor ranges - one about 10 minutes closer than the other. Both open at 10:00 and by 11:00 all bays are filled - so I try to get to one by 10:00. Regardless of which I chose - I dislike the experience. Most shooters are respectful and don't bring the hand cannon to shoot indoors - but it always seems I'm in the next bay over to the entitled one. Most range time, unfortunately, is 1 box of ammo. I'm not noise sensitive - but it gets overwhelming after a while (and I use good muffs). The only outdoor range within 30-45 minutes is $500/year - way too rich for me. As I stated working from home I'll try 'off hours' during the day to see if there are fewer shooters. Frustrating.
