You got a link supporting those two tidbits? I'm not finding anything to support that she was fired from Merril Lynch, or when she actually applied, was hired/accepted and became a Special Agent in the FBI. The only facts I can find are re: when she was assigned to the FBI Field Office in Miami.
Yooper is saying she got all fired up about being an asset to the DoD when 9/11 happened. But didn't leave her lucrative hedge fund job until 8 years later.

Do I agree with all the Navy policies? Of course not, but at ground level we’re still doing good work.
I have a relative who is an FBI agent. She made exactly the same comment recently relative to the FBI.
The FBI is an executive branch agency so it will always be political at the top. Does anyone seriously think that J. Edgar Hoover was politically neutral? He was one of the most powerful political forces in Washington for a long time. That's not to say I agree with it, but it's most certainly not a new phenomenon.
I personally know several special agents had have had the opportunity to work with quite a few others. To a person they are hard working public servants who care very little about politics and very much about the people and the country they serve. If we did a better job drawing that distinction when criticizing the Bureau's leadership maybe the good people would be more inclined to keep fighting the good fight. I don't see a principled difference between "Dissolve the FBI" and "Defund the police" - they're both gross generalizations that ignore the tremendous sacrifice and integrity of the majority of the people they're directed to.

^^^I do see that point. I had already edited my post to reflect more directly, her being fired from Merrill Lynch.

You got a link supporting that? I'm not defending her, but I'm also not finding anything to support that she was fired from Merrill Lynch. The only facts I can find are re: when she was assigned to the FBI Field Office in Miami.
I read that as she got all "fired up" in 2001 and didn't go to FBI until 2009ish. Meaning she was so upset about 9/11 that she sought a job with the FBI 8 years later.

nhracecraft^^^Well, assuming the omission of 'up' that's certainly a possibility I hadn't actually considered...Nevermind

bald1She cited the rot at the top which any clear thinking citizen already knows about and needs no explanation or illustrations. But she added that the rot was showing up at the field level as well, even being rewarded by local managers. Illustrating this was the knee business.
Bottom line is that I strongly disagree with those of my fellow members who lambast her for what they deem as a career move cover up, etc. Her piece was well written in explaning her dismay with where the FBI has gone and why she could no longer be a part of it.
Certifiable member of the gun toting, septuagenarian, bucket list workin', crazed retiree, bald is beautiful club!

Yeah, well you can't just enlist into the FBI either.
The eight year gap from 9/11 until when she was selected into the FBI is a trivial point to be criticizing. As she wrote, selection is extremely competitive. Maybe she had to apply more than once. Maybe she needed the time to build up her professional background to make her a desirable applicant. Contrary to Hollywood movies & shows, the FBI doesn't recruit fresh college graduates for special agents.
Maybe she had young children and wanted to wait until they were old enough to look after themselves. Maybe she knew working for the FBI would be a massive paycut and used those eight years at Merrill Lynch to build a financial nest egg.

OzarkwoodsHere’s the problem, the rank and file of the FBI are willing to keep their head down and under the radar until they retire. Those that have direct knowledge of wrong doing in the FBI and not coming forward to expose it are just as culpable.

divilThe article and author are far from perfect but any negative press for the dncfbi is a positive in my book.
