God Bless Texas (new gun laws)
I know there have been some parts of this on other threads but it deserves a new one to celebrate.
Great day in Texas!

Great day indeed, but a word of caution. None of these laws take effect until September 1st so don't jump the gun and get yourself in a pickle.

The suppressor bill (hr957) was interesting. I think there’s 3 players in that field in Texas who ought to start making some extra money come September.

There are no captions on that video and I am hearing impaired so I can't hear it.

Would one of you be good enough to post a brief summary of the new law(s)?

In that room were Stephen Willeford and Jack Wilson both men famously used a firearm to end mass church shootings. They used an AR15 and pistol respectively.
They were identified by the Gov and Lt. Gov during the event.

Thank You TSRA for helping to deliver these wins!

Who wants to be the first to test HB957?

So one could not have a gun in a hotel room prior to this??
That one confused me a little.

In regards to who wants yo be the test case:

They’ll be plenty, including many who just aren’t aware at all…”oh that’s legal? Cool, I’ll buy one!”

Better question, is the DoJ willing to test that and lose?

I'm not sure just how that works. Wouldn't every little screw, nut, and minor part also have to be manufactured in Texas? Would "interstate commerce" be involved if even one small part came from outside?

Basically SB20 prevents hotels from banning firearms and Ammo in rooms. The objective is to keep unsuspecting guests from having to store their firearms in their vehicles where they will be stolen. Guests are allowed to at a minimum take their firearms directly from their vehicles to their rooms, if the hotel otherwise has a firearms policy.
Hotels also have to be up front about what their firearms policies are at time of reservation.

Good bill.

It isn't exactly the same, but didn't the feds go after people in one of the states that passed a "if the gun is made here you don't have to do a 4473" law?

I can't remember the details to be more specific.

Did Noir say these bills make Texas the most pro gun state in the nation? Seriously? Constitutional Carry is great and the suppressor bill is simply awesome, but Texas still has a long way to go to even make the top ten.

Most (maybe not all) of the m-o-d-e-r-n suppressor designs that I'm familiar with have NO screws, nuts or other tiny commercial hardware parts.
Suppressor parts are made on milling machines and screw cutting lathes, So any Texas machine shop can turn our bunches of 100% Texas made silencers.

Received, thank you!

There are a few Texas things that would be welcome additions to the generally gun-friendly Florida statutes.
