Sinus infection.... sucks!
Nothing worse than a sinus infection when it's 90 degrees!

Anyone else fighting it this Summer?

I just know the first time I had it, I thought I was having an aneurysm because when I coughed, I thought my head would explode.

Maybe periodic use of a netipot will help.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Picked one up, had a sinus and ear block landing at DFW. Had to take myself off the flight schedule, and was deaf for eight days, to go with the sinus. I went through a round of antibiotics and treatment. It just came back. I'm on round two, stronger antibiotics, plus six other prescriptions, plus over the counter.

I had one for nearly four months this winter. A royal bear.

Saline spray up your nose as often as you want and drink lots of water. Alka-seltzer gel caps in the purple box helps break it up and ease the pain. Mucinex does not work for me, but it may for you.

My sinus issues/ post nasal drip are largely allergy related. I’ve been doing Zyrtec and occasional nasal saline rinse and it’s been kept at bay. This from someone with chronic rhinitis /sinusitis.

Alkalol is great with a neti pot or SinuPulse. Per my ENT, Johnson and Johnson Baby Shampoo used the same way is also great for breaking up persistent sinus infections. Since I started using those two when symptoms started appearing, no need for antibiotics or ENT appointments needed.

For me, a sinus infection was usually quickly (like an hour or so) by bronchitis which ended up walking pneumonia a couple times. I had balloon sinoplasty done along with allergy treatment (oral drops) in January. By now, I should have been sick three or four times....or one long sickness from January to July. Sinus on my right side of face were completely blocked and the procedure opened them up. Since January, I have had no sinus issues, not sick one day. There were a couple days in March were I could feel my sinus acting up due to the HUGE amount of mold in the air at that time (mold is one of my big allergies). Did the Nettipot and it cleared up right away.

Go get evaluated for both the procedure and the allergy treatment. I can't recommend this enough, it was life changing for me.

You have my sympathy. I’m good this summer but had a few in 2016. Get to your primary care, get it knocked out with antibiotics. Otherwise it will go on for weeks.

I have sinus infections more in the winter than summer. Antibiotics are the only cure, however, its a major issue getting my doctor to prescribe antibiotics for that.

Costco and Walmart sell Neilmed kits. Use warm distilled water, not tap water.

If you have chronic recurrent sinus problems I would highly encourage a steroid nasal spray daily and by daily I mean ever single day year round. They do a great job but really need 10 days of daily use to gain maximal effect and daily use to maintain the effect. The most common one Flonase ( fluticasone) is over the counter now so giving it a try is easy. I have treated many patients who suffer recurrent sinusitis and when they take my advice and use the steroids, they find instead of 5-6 severe episodes a year, they end up having only 1or 2mild episodes a year.
