Jury acquits New York man who offered $500 bounty to 'anyone who kills' an ICE agent
I dunno, I think Rocket surgeon #1 already has a great CUT.

FenderBender still has posting rights, and I agree wholeheartedly with what someone said earlier- we may disagree with FenderBender, but at least he hasn't behaved like a blithering, petulant child throughout this thread, unlike rocket surgeon #1. I pressed him for an answer, he gave the answer, and then that was it. Relatively speaking, FenderBender, despite his point of view on government, behaved like an adult. The limey shithead, on the other hand, behaved like a drunken limey shit head. He thinks he's Piers Morgan, but he's Benny Hill.
Nor sure my wife would approve, but I am intrigued... Lol

Obviously, if a high school student threatens to shoot up his school, law enforcement should immediately, preemptively, act. This is, like the case we're talking about, a *threat*, and I think must be against the law. But in my question above, it doesn't seem right that that person could say, "I didn't do anything wrong. I haven't committed the crime yet. I merely *said* I was going to commit a crime."
To answer based on what I know: It depends. There has to be other things done/steps taken, like the would be robber acquires a firearm/explosive/get away car. If his robbery plan is a 5 step process, most courts require at least 2or 3 of the actions needed to completed per the "plan".
Someone posted much earlier in the thread that maybe they should have sent an undercover in claiming to kill an ICE agent (fake news and report) and try to collect the $500. That would have have been an interesting conversation.
Looking at the two case; one in super liberal Boston where suspect was acquitted and the other in Asheville North Carolina where suspect was convicted, they appear to be very similar cases with two different results. Reasons in Boston could be weak case due to investigation, bad Prosecutor/Great Defense Attorney, bad jury selection resulting in a liberal jury nullification, bad judge excluding prosecution evidence or giving bad jury instructions.
When I went to bed last night this was a 2 page thread. Wow, LB & FB really make a strong argument for Red Flag Laws.

Brings to mind Billy Joel's 'Angry Young Man' for me.
There's a place in the world for the angry young man With his working class ties and his radical plans He refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl He's always at home with his back to the wall And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross And he likes to be known as the angry young man Give a moment or two to the angry young man With his foot in his mouth and his heart in his hand He's been stabbed in the back, he's been misunderstood It's a comfort to know his intentions are good And he sits in a room with a lock on the door With his maps and his medals laid out on the floor And he likes to be known as the angry young man I believe I've passed the age of consciousness and righteous rage I found that just surviving was a noble fight I once believed in causes too I had my pointless point of view And life went on no matter who was wrong or right And there's always a place for the angry young man With his fist in the air and his head in the sand And he's never been able to learn from mistakes So he can't understand why his heart always breaks But his honor is pure and his courage as well And he's fair and he's true and he's boring as hell And he'll go to the grave as an angry old man There's a place in the world for the angry young man With his working class ties and his radical plans He refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl He's always at home with his back to the wall And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross And he likes to be known as the angry young man

Wow.
The lengths some will go to rather than admitting they're wrong.
No, you don't have the right to make threats. It's also worth pointing out that the Constitution doesn't grant the right of free speech, or to bare arms. It limits what the government may do in both cases.
We all have natural rights, but those are not unlimited. Point of fact, the limit is often when you intersect with someone else's rights. Such as your speech being free, until you threaten harm to someone else.
I'm disappointed in both members, but at least one is an adult.

My opinion?
"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

“There are a lot of things I say and not all of them have the same quality of thought”
I just ran across this quote from Elon Musk who is on trial. Change the word 'say' to 'post' and I think we can all relate.
“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams
