Glad I got a gallon & 1/2 last week !!
I wonder why it is that I seem to like things that are difficult for me to get my hands on?
I can't get 1792 in Ohio & OctoberFest is only available 2-3 months out of a year.
Life would be easier if I liked Jack Daniels & Bud Lite ! LoL

I think that many people will buy some 1792 who otherwise would not.

I am hoping that Wine and More gets another shipment of 1792 in tomorrow. If they do, I will be "laying back" a few bottles, just in case!! It is kind of like the primers/bullets/cartridge shortage a year or so back.

I was really impressed with Willett but surprised by Barton.
It's an ugly Distillery however their bourbon was great.
The price is / was really reasonable given its smoothness IMO is equal to Woodford Reserves.

I prefer to visit the smaller distilleries as the big ones (Jim Beam, Woodford Reserve etc) have grown into tourist traps.

A motley crew were seen fighting over, holding on to, and even riding in the barrels of the highly sought after libation after they fell in the river....

OK...question. With all this talk about this Bourbon meeting its early demise, what would you Bourbon connoisseurs recommend in lieu of Crown Royal Black Label. I know it's not apples to apples, but I'd be interested in trying a quality Bourbon with my cigars. Plus Canada is just about pissing me off these days.

Thanks!

Then you definately want to go to Old EH Taylor(castle and key) and The Old crow distillery(glenns creek). Both right next to each other and I literally sat down with the owners of The Old Crow Distillery at the table and got a ton of history.

Give Woodford Reserve a try.

1792 is a second tier bourbon. Relax everyone. I can think of 15 bourbons off the top of my head that are far better in a comparable price range.

Now, if they hadn't relied on flooring and joists built in 1792 to support several hundred thousand pounds of bourbon, we wouldn't have a story here. Big Grin

There are several new places that have popped up since your last visit. Look into Mcintyre's Winery, 3rd Street Taphouse and Lux Row distillery. There is also Bullitt's Winery and Bistro downtown as well. It's tiny but they do good pizza and wine.

Just got back from Wine and More as they got a shipment of 1792 bourbon in this morning. I now have an adequate reserve of 1792, if "the sky falls". I like this bourbon, along with Knob Creek, Elijah Craig, Woodford Ridge, and Maker's Mark. These are all quality bourbons in my way of thinking.....plus they make my taste buds happy!!

Thanks for the heads up.
I'll hit those locations next year on our visit.
I know 1792 isn't in the same league as my favorite (Bookers) but there's something about it that my taste buds just find very appealing!
And the fact that it's inexpensive to boot is icing on the cake . Just wish I could get it in Ohio.
