Ready for the saddest picture you’ll see all day? A rickhouse at Barton 1792 distillery in Bardstown collapsed this morning, causing hundreds of barrels of aging bourbon to tumble to a splintery demise:

Thankfully, no people were hurt, but the bourbon! Oh, the bourbon.

UPDATE: According to the Lexington Herald Leader , there were 9,000 barrels in the rickhouse and many of them rolled down the hill towards a creek off the Beech Fork River. The EPA is on its way to determine whether or not the water has been contaminated.

EVERYONE TO THE CREEK, NOW!

they'll blend everything you see in those barrels that tumbled out, call it "Black Friday Small Batch" or some such moniker, and sell it to you for a 30% premium.

I said something similar in the bourbon thread in the Lair: They'll bottle whatever they can salvage and sell it at a premium ALA the E.H. Taylor Tornado Bourbon.
