I just love Switzerland.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I'm with you. I was fortunate enough in 2007 to have a "summit drive" with my Swiss friend in his restored 1959 Buick convertible. Amazing country.

Miles and miles of freeway and not one pothole.

Maybe we could send some of our folks over there for some learning on how to build and maintain roads.

Switzerland is a civil engineer's paradise.

There may not be an acre of flat ground in the whole country. All those tunnels, all that leveling for those magnificent roads, and railroads, too. They cultivate, and have for centuries, land that seems too steep to even walk on. On one of my many trips there, I spent a week at a small inn in a small village high above Lak Lemond. The rooms had views of the lake, and the hillside vineyard with a slope that must have been more than 45 degrees.

Everything is clean and neat. Everything is maintained, painted, organized. The trains run on time! Imagine that!

Everywhere one looks is charming, breathtaking. It is hard to think that the country wasn't designed and built by Walt Disney.
