My wife last week sent me an article about a woman who buys new items from stores that are on sale or a close out item and sells them on Amazon.
She says she buys the stuff, sends it to Amazon, they list it, sell it and deliver it and she gets paid for doing this.
I have never heard of this being done before till I saw this article.
In the story she talks about wanting to replacing her husbands income at some point.
Is this how Amazon works, kind of like Ebay with out the auction?

Avoid. How much does somebody have to work, in order for that check from Amazon to be worth it? Got the link to this article?

You buy markdown/clearance items, send them to Amazon to be cataloged and warehoused, they handle the selling & shipping, and you get a check at the end of the month. No thanks.

Even your standard wholesale seller, who utilizes Amazon for their warehousing and distribution quickly realizes that unless they are in DEEP with inventory, the amount of work you put in and the amount that Amazon's gets, you realize its not worth it. Not to mention the investment you need to put in regarding your own inventory system.

You'd be amazed at what people can make doing this, my neighbors son and his buddies in college would scan the internet, watch for trends in items, then, buy them up on sale and sell at big markups on Amazon and Ebay.

During the Dempanic home pools were hot as people looked for ways to vacation at home, these guys lived in different areas, would go around and buy up all the above ground pool inventory, store and ship out of one house.

Made a lot of money on that and other items people wanted but couldn't get in different areas of the country.

Guy I used to work with ran an Amazon and eBay business through his phones. He was making good money at the real job and he said that his side hustles were bringing in around 100k, this was five years ago.

From what I was told a couple of weeks ago he’s still at it.

A friend of mine dabbles in the Amazon Marketplace. He's just serious enough about it to make about 13% profit. But it's a ridiculous amount of work for a few hundred bucks a month.

My brother sells both Amazon and Ebay among other web sites for his car stereo business. He has had a brick and mortar store for 40 years.

His store is in my town and if I'm home I stop by and visit. One thing I have learned is that I don't stop in the store on Mondays. Mondays are when most of the returns come in. People will buy a remote or speakers or whatever, change the labels on them and return old dirty products and say the wrong item was sent. We are talking hundreds of dollars per week. To get your money back from Amazon who takes the customer word, you have to spend a lot of time sending them documents, pictures of what was sent back only to in most cases Amazon rejects and doesn't pay you.
It has gotten so bad my brother is going to close up and retire rather than loosing so much money on this.
My brother does win about half of these disputes, but the time put in is almost not worth it. Usually he disputes the bigger dollar items such as speakers that cost $300 an up.

Thanks everyone. This was something I had never really heard of and it sounded interesting.
It reminded me from back in the 80s when the big thing was drop shipping. You took out an ad in a magazine or news paper for an item, it sold then the drop company shipped it to the person who bought it.
