I consider the AARP to be a long running insurance scam.

I don’t like AARP’s politics, but I have it because I like UHC health insurance (Plan N for me), and AFAIK, the only way to get it is through AARP.

The AARP is in the tank for the far left, progressive, socialist, communist, party. To hell with them.

AARP plans can differ....some will apply a $20 copay per dr office visit, and only pay the difference if the balance left is above that. Some will pay the co insurance left. Most will not cover the Medicare deductible. Check the benefits, as more benefits will cost more for the plan.

AARPis a leftist tool, they are pro obama care, anti second amendment, and give freely to the left. There are a number of conservative ones out there, AMAC being one.

My wife insists we be members for various & sundry discounts. We have our supplemental health insurance through somebody else. AARP's rates aren't really all that great.

Were it not for her insistence I would not go near AARP with a 3.05m pole.

We've done this topic before. A summary is that AARP does not reflect the typical values of this forum membership, and supports those who are against 2A. There are other retirement programs that are suggested.

I am a bitter enemy of AARP and all the leaders of that outfit represent.
However the only way I could get the United Health high deductible Medicare supplement that I needed was though AARP. So I had to join for one year.
The insurance once you have it is not subject to cancelation except for non-payment (or death). So hold your nose join for a year, get your insurance and then forget AARP. I am certain that they still get a cut from United but I can tolerate that, after all Congress sends a cut of my taxes to lots of organizations just as bad as AARP.

I take Mother (94 yo) to the AARP tax service. Free for us seniors. But I have no other AARP contact.
Only organizations I join are NRA and AAA

Nope. Never have, never will. As was mentioned previously, they do not reflect my values. They have transitioned from an organization with seniors as it’s focus, to a left leaning political organization with seniors as its funding base.

Wife and I joined because AARP had the best deal on the MediCare supplement insurance plan that we wanted.

Had to be a member in order to enroll in that health plan, but do NOT have to be a member for annual renewal once you are enrolled.

Now that we have the health plan that we wanted, we have not renewed AARP membership. The health plan continues to roll on.

Join AMAC instead. It is a conservative alternative to liberal AARP.

I've been an AMAC member for six years.

After years of aarp sending promo letters and me sending back the same letters in their prepaid envelopes they finally gave up. They're ANTI pretty much everything I believe in.
