Finally cut the cord on cable and the ancient land-line. Got YouTube TV. I’m welcoming myself to 2020.

That is what I did last month. I added Starz/Encore which gives about a dozen channels of commercial free movies and the bill is a shade under $60 a month and the picture is better than what my Spectrum cable was. Very good sports package is included in the base youtubetv package.

We did the same a couple of months ago. Share Netflix with our daughter, have Hulu + for live sports and of course most ever woman in Mercia has amazon prime. More content than I will watch in three lifetimes.

We use YouTube TV, no issues and never looked back.

My very elderly parents finally cut the land line last month. Took me years to convince them to do it. My dad said that when he was a kid, if you didn't have a telephone you were poor. I had no idea he considered the land line to be a status symbol. Anyway, the nail in the coffin was that he realized the only calls they got on that line were robo calls and solar panel salesmen. Welcome to the 21st century, dad lol.

YouTube TV too. Had to wait until we got fiber. I traced every line from the phone pole and got rid of 4 old cable lines going to the house. Removed the dish from the roof. Looks kinda Amish now cause the power line is now buried.

I’ve never contracted for or arranged cable. I recently moved where I had to set services. I thought I got basic internet and cable services. Turns out, I got basic internet (175 - 200 mps) and way less than basic cable through xfinity streaming app.

Worse, my 2016 tv is too old and not supported by their app.

I had to get a Roku stick + then signed up for YouTube TV and Frndly TV for the HallMark channels. I loved binge watching the Cobra Kai series.

I already have prime video.

My wife and I are doing the same next month.
Getting rid of the home phone and cable.
We have been talking about doing this for a year.
It finally got to the point where our cable/phone/internet bill is about $190.00 a month and that is with basic cable.
I said enough when the cable company offers to new customers the same services for about half the cost. They will not reduce our bill to reflect the deal to new customers so we are canceling everything but internet.

We discontinued landline for cell phones years ago. We ported the old landline number to my wife’s cell phone. We did that so all relatives and people with our old line line number could contact us.

We moved from cable to at&t tv (was direct tv now ) about 18 months ago. Price has increased from $35 to $55 a month. Will probably check out YouTube tv in the near future.

Overall very happy streaming. Using amazon fire stick 4K. Tv on/off and volume control on remote.

We also stream. Netflix, amazon prime, motor trend tv.

The Spectrum customer service rep actually told us to cancel cable for 90 days and then come back because we would be eligible for new customer pricing. I won't be back. When I turned in our 3 cable boxes and cancelled tv service we were eligible for new customer package price for internet/phone.

The old rules of business was that it was much cheaper to retain an old customer than cultivate a new one. Spectrum/TWC thinks just the opposite.
