From the front, it looks kind of like a Transformer. My daughter named it Hondamus Prime:

LOL! I need a better pic from the front. The wheel is locked all the way to the left in that pic, so the left mirror is hidden.
Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.

I'm seriously considering getting a Goldwing DCT for my 50th.
Before you do get a Goldwing with DCT, give this link and video a good look....

mark60Awesome, I love it. If I could use one near it's potential I'd have one. I never liked the old color scheme but yours looks great. I've ridden the DCT and loved it.
Here's another Goldwing DCT video

stickman428Scandinavian twins was in the running but Honda big wigs went with Africa Twin because it polled better in focus groups. Darn you Honda and your obsession with design by committee.

My top 3 choices for next bike were his 1, 3, and 4. He’s definitely a HD fanboy.

Yes he is a HD nut. Having owned a few HD baggers, I can say they are easy to ride in slow traffic.
BTW, look into Honda Care extended warranty cost via mail order. I had it on my GW and it covered damn near everything to include light bulbs and fork seals and was transferable to next owner. I bought it just as the three year factory warranty was to expire. Cost at that time was $440 for four years. I ended up with 7 years Honda warranty, no copay or deductable.

ASKSmithNice score! I had seen one in person awhile ago, and thought it was an awesome bike.
I have always considered a dual sport, but yet it’s the only bike I haven’t owned. I had to settle for a GoldWing (manual) a few months ago, at my wife’s insistence. We are both happy.
Ride safe, and always keep that cellphone with you if you ride alone. Let your friends/family know your timeframe, and a general idea of where you will be.

The CRF1000/1100 Africa Twin pays homage to the XRV650, which followed the NXR750 a purpose-built twin cylinder racer aimed squarely at winning the 1986 Paris-Dakar Rally, perhaps the most grueling motorcycle race, which primarily runs through north Africa. Honda won it 4 years running.
The Africa Twin is Born
The first Africa Twin, the XRV650 (RD-03), debuted in May 1988 to capitalize on Honda’s success. It stuck as closely as possible to the race bike’s design, even being produced by HRC rather than Honda. As it is most of the time when you get a new motorcycle there were a couple little things that I thought could be improved on with my CRF1100L which I'll just offer FWIW.
Mine came with basically a 1" windshield so I ordered the one that comes on the Africa Twin Adventure Sport that IntrepidTraveler has. But I found that one to be too tall, I was looking through it and it created a wind pressure that pushed my helmet forward. After making a shield the same size of cardboard I put that on then set out on a ride, stopping every few miles to cut an inch off. Between 2 and 3 inches off worked well, 4" off was too much, so I cut the windshield down 2 1/2".
The seat wasn't horrible but the wide part at the rear (where I wanted to sit) was sloped which kept sliding me forward where the seat was narrower. Seat Concepts has a kit to remedy this and it is much more comfortable now.

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

AKSuperDuallyCongratulations.
I'm still in a love/hate relationship with the BMW GSA.

PGTCongrats! I cut my teeth on a BMW F650 and always wanted an Africa after seeing them down in Patagonia on a trip. Sadly, I'm not in an area where it's safe to ride every day so will put off another until we're further out in the country.
