NavyGuyATT Uverse CBS
Not sure it is the same in all markets, but here in North Texas Uverse is spatting with CBS and for now the channel is not available.
Listing to the Tech Guy pod cast I gleaned that you can get local channels for free through Locast.org. A little app set up but it seems to work great with pretty good picture quality.
Just passing on for others stuck with this Uverse deal.

Balzé HalzéWell, it's the same here on the northeast with DirecTV (or at least Philadelphia area). No more CBS available. Which means no more Price Is Right during lunchtime. They've destroyed a sailor tradition!
I guess it's time to bust out the bunny ears.

The point of my post was go to locast.org and you can get these channels for free if you're in a major metro area.

We don't exactly have high speed internet on the ship, certainly not for steaming live broadcasts. Nevertheless, your recommendation is well received.
In any case, DirecTV is also in a spat with CBS.

Johnny 3eaglesDirectv is in a pricing fight with NEXSTAR. Nexstar owns stations in 95 markets, something like 125 stations. Here in our area, NBC has been pulled from DirecTV by Nexstar. CBS here is still on, on DirecTV.

Scooter123Fortunately for me I still use the Antenna in my attic, it allows me to watch all of the sub channels available. However I do use Uverse when weather conditions take a poop on some of the broadcast channels. So this "spat" isn't without effect.
What I have to wonder is how the Nielson Ratings handle these spats. Because right now CBS is probably losing a lot of viewers.
I've stopped counting.

smithnsigGame of chicken before football season. Before the 2:37 kickoff of the first CBS SEC game.
ATT is losing this one. The rabbit ears will go up and people will realize they don’t need ATT for local programming.

mark_aNo ABC for us... Both companies are losing...
We went 2 years w/o cable or dish. Watched prime & netflix.
when we moved out to the sticks we picked up direct tv.
I just about have our cellular data worked out where we can go back to streaming again. Direct will be bye bye as soon as that happens

barndg00Haven’t paid for local tv for 4-5 yrs now. Have a good 2 panel antenna in the attic (major stations broadcast towers are almost 90 degrees apart for us here) which feeds into the previous cable distribution box. Have an OTA DVR that downloads a guide for the channels I have, records what I want when it airs (though there is less and less of that honestly). A Roku takes care of our streaming needs, Kodi on a fire stick the rest.
Yes, it is more complicated to use than a major package from the cable company or Direct TV, but I save at least $1000 yearly.

hairy2dawgCBS is out in our area too, on Dish Network. The way I see it, is that CBS wants my satellite bill to increase, so I could care less if they ever come back. If it weren't for my wife, I'd drop satellite all together.
I'm tired of all these different networks trying to get more out of my pocket, especially the ones that I don't watch. I wish I could only pay for the ones I watch.

VanwallDirectv Now subscriber here. No CBS but not an issue since I have an antenna and access to CBS over the air. Although the only thing I watch on CBS is Jeopardy.

rusbroDirectTV Now for me as well, with CBS removed. I have an OTA antenna, and a mini-PC combined with an HD Homerun, so I can still watch and DVR CBS. I was using OTA+DVR very little since DirectTV Now has a built-in DVR feature, but now that CBS is OTA only for me, I'm glad I have that option.

41I have had OTA since 1988. The attic antenna was directed at the end wall that had the aluminum foil backing. The previous owner didn't seem to be too smart in many ways of the things he did to this house.
I moved the antenna so it shot through the roof and was aimed towards TV Hill which has the Washington towers. Luckily, the Baltimore towers are close to the line-of-sight further out and I can get them too.
I added a pre-amp and replaced some of the cable with RG-6 and now get 62 channels. In the beginning, there were about 10 analog channels. I have saved a ton of money over cable.

doc45This dispute over retransmission fees also happened between CBS and DirecTv/ATT in 2012. That one was settled much quicker by DTV agreeing to CBS' fees.
My local CBS station here in Denver (and I imagine all the others owned by the network across the country) has a toll free phone number on it's web page to call to let ATT know of the viewers displeasure. Every time I've tried it rings busy and almost immediately disconnects.
DirecTv's viewership is in almost constant decline since January of this year. I've read anywhere from 4-6 million. This blackout impacts roughly 6.5 million viewers across the country.
ATT is refusing to pay the re-transmission fees CBS is asking for. With the declining viewership of both Dish and Direct/ATT as more people move to streaming services I wasn't really surprised by this move.
I do see this ending prior to the fall season for new shows as well as the football season-it'd be a huge hit to ATT.

Johnny 3eaglesI am curious about something. The Little Rock CBS station is still broadcasting on our DirecTV. Apparently the blackout doesn't cover the whole country. Our NBC station is part of the other issue with NEXSTAR and DirecTV and is not being broadcast.
