One of the worst NFL officiating sequences I've ever seen

AckksOne of the worst NFL officiating sequences I've ever seen
https://twitter.com/jtannenwal.../1071880835589132288 First, the refs somehow missed what was a clear fumble. Ref #34 is starring right at the play at the end of the video, so I have no clue how that is even possible.
Next, they missed the Eagele's Grugier Hill stand up with the ball in real time.
Lastly, while watching the video challenge they clearly see that three Eagles...and only three Eagles...were in a pile with the ball.
It makes sense to then give it to the Cowboys who weren't even in the pile to recover the ball. That is by far one of the worst officiating sequences I've ever seen. The NFL really has become a joke.

We don't watch anymore, but my kids ask
"Dad, why are there all these commercials for the NFL????Hmmm, I wonder...

RHINOWSOIt is fun to hear about it burning down tho...
Crappy players, shitty officiating, stupid rules that are changing it into flag football... attendance going down down down..
Fuck em, fuck all of them...

mcrimmConsidering the few games I do watch, I believe the officials try to determine the outcome too many times. Phantom calls, makeup calls, missed calls and pure questionable calls ruin what little is left in the game.
I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings when I called you stupid - I thought you already knew - Unknown

EdmondNot a football fan myself but it seems officiating is getting complaints in a lot of sports from what I've read. Examples like this, questionable balls/strikes in baseball, basketball not calling traveling anymore, etc.
Are the officials getting worse or are the HD replays from 8 angles exposing more? Or is it both?
Not to thread drift but aren't there some things that can be automated? Why can't balls and strikes be automated in baseball? I'm sure they can adjust for batter height. The size of the plate is the same for everyone.

radiomanBeing a ref / umpire is a trade that takes skill. Skills are something most people just don't take the time to master any more.

KMitch200Not having seen that game, the only thing I can think of is calling it 'forward progress stopped' but it sure looks like a fumble to me!
What I like is when they review a play in slo-mo from multiple angles and STILL screw up the call. (on edit: like they did this one)
The NFL is supposed to review every play in every game to rate the officiating. I hope this one raises some eyebrows.
Side note: for the guys who jump in every thread about the NFL and feel the need to trash talk it...we get it.
You lump ALL pro players into the same group. Even though there are a BUNCH of players that have started foundations and donated their own money to help kids, hospitals, people that have suffered natural disasters, etc. Let's just say they're ALL felon assholes and feel good about ourselves.

I watched a bit of Tampa Bay vs. somebody and there were a lot of empty seats. The nosebleed section was very sparsely occupied, and the rest of it had a whole bunch of empty. the seats are red so it isn't too tough even in the quick pans that the cameras catch.
The times they are a changin'.

The ref came back after the review and said it was a fumble, but it wasn't clear who recovered the ball, so Dallas was keeping it. Someone in New York actually made the decision. That would be fine if they didn't watch a review showing only Eagles in a pile with the fumble.

This is why I stopped watching. Even before a significant number of the players showed themselves to be America bashers.

smithbcThe nfl can kiss my rear end. They can all go take a knee in the unemployment line as far as i am concerned.

RAMIUSBlah blah blah, everyone hates the NFL.
The man created a thread with a specific topic, the previous 3 posts contribute nothing to the thread’s topic.

PDThe thread is about officiating. What does politics and protests have to do with it? I think there’s another thread buried in my he archives for that.

I love seeing the "quick pans", "tight shots", and others that they perfected when the college bowl numbers got out of control and NOBODY was there.
They are very skilled but it's still visible if you watch or see highlights.

Because it has impacted viewers, in addition to the political bullshit.

casIf you're not watching, how do you know the officiating is bad?
This thread sucks due to most of the responses. Same bullshit as the people that have to post "Never heard of them" "Never saw it" all the time.

AckksI certainly understand why some people don't like the NFL. If people want to vent it's fine with me.
I've just never seen an officiating sequence like yesterday. I'm not one who believes the league has an agenda in determining the outcome of games, but that seemed a bit too much like the WWE. The officials and the league headquarters had a few minutes to watch the video and that is the outcome they came up with? This isn't clear evidence of a recovery?

Two separate issues. Not everything is about politics.
