My Dad was a Ham as far back as I have recollection. An Elmer for sure. He always had encouraged me to get my licence but life somehow get in the way. With this confinement over the last 3 months I decided it was time, so I studied a bit, took the test and here I am. Purchased a Yeasu FT3DR as a starter hand held... yeah I know not really a starter HT, but I'm a cry once kind of guy.

The key to enforcement is to punish the violator, not an inanimate object. The punishment of inanimate objects for the commission of a crime or carelessness is an affront to stupidity.

KJ7NYU for about a month now. I even did mine remotely with the guys from Rexburg Idaho. My local tests kept getting postponed due to the RONA. Perfect isolation activity for the last couple of months. I'll be moving on to my general soon. Congrats.

Congratulations and good choice on the HT. Yaesu makes some great gear. From my 43 years in ham radio, the number one lesson I’ve learned is to not live in an HOA neighborhood. Such places are not ham friendly due to restrictive covenants that do not permit outside antennas. There are workarounds involving stealth antennas, but these are generally compromises at best. Good luck and enjoy a great hobby.

I guess I put 8 or 9 hours into study over a month or so. A little at a time. I utilized online Youtube resources as well as a couple of the Q&A websites. I missed one question on the exam and I actually knew the answer but for some reason I selected incorrectly. Keplerian elements
