Watched Slapshot today for the first time in forever and laughed the whole way through. If you haven't watched it and want to laugh, make some time to enjoy it. Smile

"This young man has had a very trying rookie season, with the litigation, the notoriety, his subsequent deportation to Canada and that country's refusal to accept him, I guess that's more than most 21-year-olds can handle. Number six, Ogie Oglethorpe."

The Carlson brothers, on whom this was loosely based, were from my hometown. One of them (Jack?) was a student in my dad’s 6th grade class.

Bruce Boudreau was in the film. I got to know him before he became a head coach in the NFL. He said it was a lot of fun.

I played hockey with my brother for years. There was a time when we were known as the Hanson Brothers. I have no idea why. Big Grin

I may have lead a league in goals and PIM's once. Those where fun times.

Best Hockey Jersey of all time.
Brings me back to when I was a kid and went to watch them play with my dad.
I thought “When the Saints Go Marching In” was a song specifically written for them.
They always played it when they came onto the ice.

Look what I found in my closet. Smile

I was in the 7th grade when that movie came out, and since I was a hockey fan back then AND how quirky it was, I absolutely loved it!

Thanks for bringing this movie up. I will try to get it to show my wife. Crazy it has been over 40 years now!

I met all three of them back when they were doing the Bud Light NHL tour. Playing those three caricters was not much of a stretch, I can tell you that much. Also, three of the nicest guys and all three played minor pro.
