Because Mazda is a significantly smaller manufacturer than Toyota/Honda/Nissan.

Mazda produced and sold ~1 million cars in the past year, compared to:

Toyota: ~9 million
Honda: ~4 million
Nissan: ~3.5 million

Mazda is kind of the hidden gem of Japanese cars. Just as reliable, but much nicer/more refined. Luxury quality without the luxury price tag. They punch way above their price tag.

My wife and have owned Toyota's for almost 20 years. Our first was a 2004 Toyota Camery. Since then we have owned three more.

When we started looking for a new car the first thing we thought of was of course another Toyota. When we looked on the lot not only did they have very little to look at/choose from every one had some sort of mark up above MSRP because they were so hard to get.

That started us looking for other alternatives. Honda and Nissan were in the same situation as Toyota so we started looking at other brands and were not happy with some of the things we were hearing about when it came to reliability.

We had never thought of Mazda however we have a few friends who owned the CX5 and were very very happy so we went and looked.
We found you get a lot for the money when it came to value for the options. Also your right, for us it seamed like more of a luxury car for a great price.

When we looked in November the ability to make deals on the cars was good however the loan rates were not, so we held off.
We had family visiting and we were getting ready to go on a cruise and thought to revisit the dealership around the middle of December.

It was a good thing we waited, Mazda was now offering 0% financing for 60 months depending on your credit.
We went to the dealer on Sunday to get an idea on the trade value on my wife's car and by the end of the day we had a deal on a new CX5 Carbon Edition at 0% for 60 months.

Monday after my wife was done working we went to the dealer and closed the deal, now own a new CX5.

Again, Thanks everyone for your help

Congratulations! If your car's color is that poly metal gray, I think that's the best color. You just can't get it in the Signature trim.

Don't forget that the instructions I posted earlier in this thread apply to your car as well, if you want to enable touchscreen while in motion.

Thank you.
My wife is now in the learning phase any help is appreciated.
I am one of the few people who will get the owners manual out and read it for hours. That does not mean I will understand how things work but for me it is a start.
We have learned Youtube is very helpful.

Again thanks.

Consumer Reports now says Mazda is in the same reliability league as Honda—a couple of points lower. Nissan OTOH is much lower. Toyota/Lexus as always number one.
I’m happy with my Mazda CX-90 PHEV so far although I calculated buying electricity from PG&E is more expensive than buying gas at Costco. If we had solar panels we could get free kWH during sunny days, but don’t have it at the rental house.

I find the Mazda manual extremely unintuitive in terms of finding answers to questions about my car. The internet and stumbling around trying things has shown me little tricks.

For example, if you press and hold the little stalk that controls dashboard illumination, you will change the rather redundant fuel to empty gauge that is just to the right of the speedometer, to a miles to empty read out, along with a permanent compass.

I have never been a computer person however I am learning. The one thing I have never been able to figure out is how to post pictures using a hosting site. The last time I tried the pictures were gigantic.
My wife is going to try on her account.

*****Update. Picture posted by Bonnie of the new car.*******

Try PostImage. It's free, and it's easy to use. When you upload a photo, there's a drop-down menu to select the size that you want.

HI!!! I am loving the CX-5! It is so comfortable and drives so smooth. I am getting used to the Android auto - I have to remember to plug the phone in before turning the car on. Otherwise I have to go select it (my cell is 2+ years old) but I am figuring out. And I actually like the knob selector. I filled it up for the first time today. OH and it is so quiet compared to my RAV4. Even talking on the phone so far nobody realized I'm in the car.
