How does BJs Warehouse compare to Costco?
We go to Costco a lot. It won out over Sams For us. We bought mostly one-off items at Sams but regular use items at Costco.

The BJs Warehouses are moving in now and advertising like crazy although the stores are still being built

How do they compare to Costco?

I think Sams is better than BJ’s...

They are pretty close to one another. It feels like BJ's carries less products but perhaps more name brands. We like them both, but typically go to BJ's more because it's SO much closer to our home (5 mins vs. 25 mins for Costco). However, we still do keep our Costco Membership for their Kirkland branded products (paper towels, toilet paper etc.).

I was a member of BJs before Costco. Honestly I liked BJ's and it seemed like BJ's focused a little more on food items than Costco. A lot of the same products, but then also a lot of brands I preferred over Costco brands (deodorant/shampoo) etc. BJ's meat is very good but they don't sell Prime like Costco.....BJ's always offers a 60 or 90 day free trial, go check it out...….BJ's had propane cheap, Costco doesn't. Both offered top tier gas......I just moved closer to a Costco so switched.....was/am very happy with both.

I don't have a Costco by me but I will compare it to the Sam's near me. For meats and fresh poultry,Sam's wins for me. For everything else, BJ's has more options and bargains. They always have sales with their coupon books they send out and some in store, which Sam's has none and the sales at Sam's are not that often to compare to BJ's.

I use that coupon once a year for the trial period and stock up for the year. I'm a cheapskate. Big Grin

It may be different in other areas but in Richmond, Costco all day long. We belong to both and used to belong to Sams before they closed the store near us. Huge lines for gas at Costco so we buy ours at BJ's. Both Sams and BJ's both closed down their lunch counters in favor of vending machines, so one more reason to go to Costco. Clothes selection and quality are better at Costco. I do have to admit, I like BJ's chocolate chunk cookies.
