This vehicle I bought has leather seats which is a first for me, I've only ever had cloth or pleather but never real leather. What does the Forum recommend for any sort of leather seat protectant/conditioner to keep them looking good and not cracking etc?

TBH I've only cleaned mine with a dedicated leather cleaner/conditioner a few times over the years and it was a product I got at Auto Zone. Be aware generally only the seating surface itself is leather, the sides, front, and back of the seatback will be matching vinyl.

Be sure to do the steering wheel too if it's leather. A lot of them got dried out during covid when everyone was using hand disinfectant.

Lexol but be sure you don't treat areas that are vinyl and almost all use that on the side and some other panels.

Bick 4, is the best in my opinion. Will not change the color.

It depends on two factors:

level of effort. I'm a do a little bit of cleaning frequently, but others might want to do a bunch of work at once then not anything for months afterward.

how dirty the seats are now and how dirty they get between cleanings. Factors such as whether or not you or kids eat in car, whether or not any kids are putting feet on seats or seatbacks, and whether or not dogs will be on the seats.

I don't eat in my truck and don't have kids. Therefore, my level of effort is a once a month all-in-one product that cleans, conditions, and provides UV protection. I use Blackfire Leather Complete. My 9.5 year old seats look new except the very leading edge where I get on seat every day.

The next level of effort is a separate cleaner (i.e. more cleaning power than all-in-one) and then a separate conditioner and UV protectant. Frequency depends on aforementioned how dirty now and how dirty between cleanings. I like P&S Xpress Interior Cleaner paired with 303 Automotive Protectant.

The next level of effort is a separate cleaner and then a ceramic coating. Preparation is key for the ceramic coating to bond so this is the most time spent cleaning of the 3. Then, the application takes skill (it's easy, but it's a repetitive technique) and time. This will last 6 months to a year depending on aforementioned how dirty now and how dirty between cleanings. Gyeon has two products for cleaning so you'll use this one for cleaning new car leather and use this one for cleaning used car leather. I've never done this, but Gyeon Leather Shield EVO 50 ml Ceramic Coating has a great reputation.

I lean toward Zymöl for both.

Lexol seemed to leave a waxy residue on my hands after applying the conditioner

Keep the car out of direct sun as much as possible. If you are unable to park it under a roof (garage at home or work, carport, etc., get some sunshades for it. And don't use a product that is smelly or slimy.

I use the Lexol cleaner than their conditioner/ protectant. I only do it twice a year.

Works it's best with closed windows in the sun on a hot summer day.

When I had time to give my Miata (since sold) a thorough and proper detailing, I used Protectant 303 for various surface material detailing and treatment with very good results.

I have been using 303 for years to protect my leather seats and dash. It doesn't shine like some products do to the dash. (hint, 303 can do tires too and won't brown over time or sling off)

But like every car I've had the past umpteen years, I always scratch my steering wheel with a gun when getting in or out. I ordered some heidelux to see if it will fix the scratches. It irks me when I'm turning and I feel the scratch in the leather.

In fact, I just ordered the 303 version of gummi pflege to use on my seals since my actual gummi ran out.

Some leather auto seats are coated with a plastic sealing layer and the leather doesn't get treated like couch leather.

Mrs. Mike has a Lincoln with leather seats, we use Chemical Brothers cleaners. They work well.

I use lexol. Their cleaner works really good but have to keep adding a little water to the cleaner on the seat. I put my hand in an old sock and found it's easier to massage either the cleaner or conditioner on seats without making a mess that way. They have a conditioner for light seats and another for dark.
