Shipping powder and primers.
Has anybody here shipped powder and/or primers to another individual? How do you do it legally? UPS, Fedex or ??

I was thinking about trying to sell some items on Gunbroker or in the classifieds but don't want to list anything until I know how to ship it properly.

Thanks for any help..........

Don't know for sure, but I believe there's more to it than just paying a hazmat fee.

Basically, you just can't do it.

You'll have to go through hazmat shipping training, get certified, etc. All that will take more time and cost more than you'd make.

So just sell locally in person.

I'm seeing lots of primers and powder on sale on GB, surely there is a way to get it done.......

I’ve always been under the assumption one needs ‘haz-mat certification’ and a ‘shipping contract’ to ship anything beyond loaded ammo.

I see the listings on Gunbroker, much of them to high to ever sell, $99 a pound.

I still think it# best just to advertise local pickup.

My assumptions are more than casual, just don’t see it legally feasible.

Monday I plan on calling my local Fedex and UPS stores to see if any of them are authorized......

How about a road trip? I also hooked up on Craigslist & carried some stuff to FL for $200. No it wasn’t anything illegal.

Of course you have to trust the others involved.

I sold 26,000 primers yesterday and met locally for pickup. I sold a lot cheaper than I think I could get if I advertised on GB. You just have to balance whether a road trip is worth it. I'm in the DFW area so lots of local potential.......

F....I’d drive to DFW for some small primers....3 hours one way...can’t find them anywhere...

But I won’t pay gouging prices...$30 per brick seems reasonable and around what it was before all this shit started.

When some primers are going for $300 per thousand on Gun Broker you might be completely unrealistic to expect to buy them for $30 per thousand. I sold tens of thousands of primers for more than twice that much yesterday. Could have sold hundreds of thousands more if I'd had them for FAR more than that price.

I would go and buy a 2021 Corvette Tomorrow for $30,000. Problem is that they are SOLD OUT and they sell for $90,000 now......

They won't accept them. You will have to go to the hub.

Will the Hub's accept hazmat items?

Maybe a company like ‘ShipBob’ can help? They sound like a service trained & certified to ship your hazardous material.

You can't do it legally. Google is your friend here. I looked into it a few weeks ago.
Just a guess many folks ON GB are doing it illegally, which is fine if you don't get caught. The consequences are pretty severe for doing it illegally and getting caught.

You can do it legally if you have the proper training and insurance. I am sitting on a lot of primers and powder, but in the end I decided to keep everything in my stockpile.

Yeah, I called the folks at my local UPS center and they pointed my at their hazmat department. The nice lady there said no can do for a private party, what you need is a freight forwarder or an expediter. Call them and see what you’re up against. The short version was that it would has cost a lot more to ship the 1000 small pistol primers than they cost when I bought them.
