I have the XPS desktop, got it at Costco. I put an SSD in it and am happy with the system.

Dell is fine.

Depends on what you want out of your computer. If you are looking for an 'office box' that you check your e-mail after work browse sigforum and look at funny cat pictures, mid-grade Dell Lattitude would be fine. Just stay away from the consumer grade stuff.

If you are looking for something more take a look at the XPS, or at another favorite brand of mine - ASUS.

Or, you could always build your own (PC Master race go!!!).

That would appear to be a heck of a deal alright. Makes me wonder where they skimped, but maybe that's too cynical of me.

Since I tossed that little tidbit out there, I figured I'd throw in the link.

I'm typing this on a 6yo desktop I built myself. This model has me thinking about replacing it.
