I hear you and I feel the same way. I think if people who hate the country and LE enough to repeatedly enter my property to vandalize, I might reconsider. It's a matter of time before that ends in a confrontation and the homeowner will always lose that in one way or another.

I keep some intentionally obnoxious flags in my backyard: Either Gadsden, Blue Line or some form of Molon Labe. There is no flag code required for them so, I keep them mounted low at an angle where they can't readily be seen over my outer fence. I also have a privacy fence between the pool and the back fence so further obstruct the view. I have six cheap motion lights on the fence inside the yard. There is no way to enter the yard without setting some of them off. Still, those are only good the first time someone sets them off. If they've been there repeatedly, they are not threatened by them anymore.

Best of luck to you.

My NVR can be set up to send emails based on motion detection, highly customizable. Even though be prepared to get a lot of emails. I bought an IR light from B&H, a recommendation from a SF member, that literally lights up the entire neighborhood, depends on quality of cameras though on what you will be able to capture.

What the consensus on an NVR 5MP system by Lorex, BH has one listed with 4 cameras. Would I need anything else to use the system such as PC and software or monitor...

If you have an NVR system, whats the life on the charge for the cameras, do the systems send you a notice when a battery is low similar to Ring Doorbells?

Think I'd keep a couple of spare batteries on charge for replacements and move batteries around. Seems the biggest problem is having to swap out batteries where a wired system doesn't have that issue?

Other thing about wireless is you could move cameras around to test locations easily..

thx for the advice ya'll. Low and behold I had some extra bluegill fish hooks around and put them to good use with the flag Smile

Cameras, check. Lighting, check. Driveway alarm, check. Signs warning of CCTV, check. Fat lazy pug who sleeps harder and snores worse then I do, check.

I'll also post the latest video for your viewing pleasure if I could figure out how.

Just take them down in the evening, solves the problem of late night thieves, foiling them by changing your routine is the right way.

Sure sticking to your guns is noble, however it's trespassing, theft of property and a low dollar amount, and setting traps will just get you in trouble...

You could save up the pugs droppings, cover the yard around the flag pole with them.

I’d permanently mount that sucker up high, and wrap the pole in razor wire and fish hooks. Use a 16-20 foot extension ladder to change when needed. Remove the up and down pulley rope.

I don't blame you but... I have done similar myself... just be careful with that. Traps set with the premeditated intent to injure someone, even a trespasser, is Illegal in most states. I have seen the measuring stick stated as... you can not do any thing to someone via a booby trap that you could not legally do to them in person. You could find yourself in jail alongside the perp.

Perhaps some of the forum Lawyers could chime in...

If someone knows how to post the video (media player) I could forward it for posting. It's 50 / 50 if this is a male or female responsible this time. Man face but woman hips and gait.

I don't know as that's a particularly wise thing to do. Given the nature of today's litigious society it should not be necessary to explain why.

It may even be against the law. See: Booby Traps Law and Legal Definition

How big is it, file size wise?
