KevmoFinally Cleaning FIL's Stuff Out w/questions for the electronics guys
Well, it has been a tear since he passed and we are finally starting to clean his stuff out...the man was a packrat!
Highlights of the day were:
- Was trying to sell large Craftsman table saw and the guy who came to look at it was a vet who had done two tours in Iraq and woodworking was his new hobby, that man drove away with a free saw as we refused to take his money
- Found an old Stevens model 94 12 gauge in decent shape that came home with me
- Destroyed and tossed countless floppies, tape back ups and hard drives
Now for the question...I found a Heathkit Laboratory Oscilloscope and an electronic instrument co model 720 transmitter along with some other components with tubes...not sure if any of it is worth selling or not?

FiveFiveSixFanI've actually used an EICO 720 a very long time ago and was shocked to see that the current asking price can be in the $200-$300 range.
I can't help with the oscilloscope but it's value will be somewhat dependent on how well it was built by the original owner.

ensigmaticSome of that old hardware might be quite valuable to collectors. Especially any old tube gear. Did he have a collection of spare tubes, too?
Man, I had a
bunch of those pre-Army. I don't know when or how they disappeared, but, like my baseball cards, comic books and old vinyl records, I sure wish they hadn't.

mark123The electronics will probably need to be recapped. If the items have old 2-prong plugs, I wouldn't try them until you have then looked at.

r0gueAround here they have "Hamfests" in the summer. Maybe look for one of those. I would assume the O-scope would need calibrated, and I agree with the re-cap comments. Which could be a big job for something like that. Not sure.

Tailhook 84Kevmo, I can't tell you about the electronics, but I can wish you good luck as you and your wife go through the process of cleaning out a parent's house. We are currently doing the same thing with Mrs. Hook's parent's house, and it is an exercise in perseverance to the task and patience with each other. Hang in there!

KevmoThanks to all that have replied...I found a shop locally that I am going to gather up the HAM gear and let them look at it, possibly consign with them.
There have been many WTF moments trying to figure out why he hung onto some of the things he did but also great opportunities to laugh and remember him.
I am also going to clean and use the Stevens and I just told my wife that this gun could probably tell some stories!
