I’m not talking about duck hunting, or extended outdoor wear. I’m looking for something just enough to take the bite off of the chill. Much Thanks. This message has been edited. Last edited by: chuck416, November 14, 2023 09:56 PM

Plain ol everyday use? I like the equivalent of military “silks”. Last couple of sets came from Cabelas. They weren’t particularly expensive versions. True military versions are better but harder to source and considerably more expensive for everyday wear.
I think any number of brands will work.

I always liked silks too. Very light weight and not restrictive. I remember getting a hell of a deal on some from Sierra Trading Post years ago. I don't even know if they are still in business.
I'd hope there is cheaper out there somewhere. Not at Sierra.

Most of time here in the Frozen North, for every day wear, I have fleece or flannel lined jeans. And lined Riggs Ranger pants. If I need more warmth, lightweight Polarfleece underwear worn under the lined pants keep me toasty warm. And of course, avoid cotton in cold weather.
Icebreakers is another brand that holds up and performs well.

What is this cold weather of which you speak? I’d settle for a little chilly.

If I'm spending a significant amount of time out hunting, camping, or something like that, I go with the merino ones AKSD linked. If I'm out plowing or working around the house the insulated Carhartt bibs go on. Otherwise, it's just jeans.

Merino Wool. I get my stuff from REI, mostly. Merino makes a great base layer.

If you're looking to keep a warm layer next-to-skin, I like Merino wool.
Brands like Icebreaker and Smartwool are very solid. I have a number of t-shirts from Ibex, all are made with really fine Merino wool, they wear like regular shirts and have no itch which people think of wool. I can wear a flannel or, thicker sweater over and have no problems and they look great. Merino wool is much softer and not as irritable like old style boiled wool, you can wash in the machine, short time in the drier and hang it up to finish drying.

You might consider changing the click-bait thread title. I remember those being annoying to The Boss.

My wife bought me some light weight underwear a couple of years ago. I like it for times when I just need something for running errands but won't be outside for long periods. Only grip I have is little or no butt to hold them up but a belly to push them down so it could use better elastic in the waist band.

Duluth Trading.
They have thinner long johns, they have thicker stuff, they also have underwear that comes down to about your knee- which is great for when it's kinda cold.
