sidss1Would ou please recommend a reputable gun store and a reputable instructor in South Bend, Indiana, for a friend.....
My friend is employed at the Univ of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, and resides a bout 1 mile from campus. While he is a conservative through and through, he has absolutely no experience with firearms. He has shot a handgun just once in his life. Recently he has applied for a handgun permit in the State of Indiana, and he is seeking info about a reputable gun store, and a reputable instructor to seek training handling the weapon he ends up buying.
If you have any recommendations, please let me know, and I will pass on the info to him.
Thank you all in advance.

ch23701 http://www.kodiakrange.com/No real experience with them, but it may be worth looking into. ND’s on the north side of town and Kodiak is on the south...so maybe 10 miles away?Hope this helps.

RCI have never trained there but
Kodak might be a good place to start they have been around for quite a while
It's an indoor range, I know they have beginner and higher level training
The hard thing now a days is finding a gun and then ammo.
If your friend does find a gun and ammo
I belong to a club North of South Bend in Niles Michigan
Bend of the River Conservation Club
BORCC.org
Covid and the Michigan Governor caused some disruptions
But
They have some good training programs going on
I believe there is a Upcoming NRA basic pistol class
And on Mondays they have a basic handgun class
"Introduction to your Gun" $5.00
If your friend is female they also have a ladies night shoot every other week.
Your friend may also be interested that BORCC offers classes for the Michigan concealed carry permit, yes it's in Michigan but the information offered is still helpful for carrying in other states.
My email is in my profile if your friend needs some more details on BORCC.

sidss1Thank you both for the info I requested. I have sent both the links to Kodiak and to the gun club at Niles. So, he should be able to get the training and the range time he needs. Thank you very much.

You should ask for John Pemberton. He's a Rangemaster graduate. It's a much better instructor development class than most.

m1009+1 for Kodiak. Nice place, good people. And John is a stand up guy too. Also, they have rentals, so your friend can try out different models to find one he likes the best.
