Ruffles or Wavy Lays?
I don't eat a lot of potato chips, but I've been eating Ruffles since Christ was a Corporal. My wife was headed to the store and I asked her to bring home some Ruffles. She brought Wavy Lays. She is only 4' 10" and couldn't reach the Ruffles on the top shelf.

I tried them with my sammich, and liked 'em, maybe better than Ruffles. What is your favorite brand of ridged chips?Wavy LaysRufflesOther (National Brand)

Wavy Lays.

I used to be a Ruffles guy but they got to greasy.

The wavy lays are firm, fresh, and have a good potato flavor.

30 years ago it was Ruffles hands down.
Ruffles were the best chip there was back then in my opinion.

Today's Ruffles aren't as good.

I'm about equal on Ruffles and Wavy Lays now.
I think I like Utz Ripples better now as they're less greasey and less salty.

A bit of a drift but since Utz has been mentioned, their potato stix, original or BBQ, are addicting as hell. Big Grin

These days, Meijer brand are pretty good for about half the price of the name brands. For that matter, I'll also do the Walmart brand.
I realize Meijer is not a national brand.

I'm not willing to pay anywhere close to what the name brands are selling for these days.

What's the difference between ruffled and wavy?

Walmart (Great Value) offers both, one in a red package and one in blue. Same net weight, same price.

My favorite was the old O'Grady's Chips (Frito Lay). They were like Ruffles but the chips were 2-3 x thicker and the ridges heftier and farther apart.

There's nothing special about the name brands that justifies double the price.

Neither. I prefer the thin kettle style.

Found these on one of my trips to Hawaii, but they're available CONUS:

For my fellow Texans, HEB sells these and they're practically as addictive as crack:

I buy and eat Ruffles. Don't think I've seen Wavy Lays, but I guess I'd like them. Lately I've been "off" potato chips and doing popcorn instead. I buy Reddenbacher's "Natural"--I don't like butter on my popcorn and it's very hard to find microwave popcorn without it.

Wife and I prefer the plain Kettle brand with Sea Salt.

LS1 GTO has good taste. Kettle cooked + sea salt = potato chip perfection. Smile

I used to eat Ruffles for dipping, but a few months ago Walmart was out and I bought their store brand Great Value. I was surprised that they were actually good. I haven’t gone back to Ruffles since.

The absolute best that I have ever had: I was working in Barcelona in 1977 / 1978. Just a five minute walk from the condo where my wife and I lived, there was a tiny mom & pop shop that made two products, xurros (churros) and potato chips.

We would buy both, fresh and hot. Just outstanding!

Tim's! In terms of foodstuffs from this area that I will miss when I move, I'm not huge on potato chips, but when I eat them, I want Tim's. They have a bunch of flavors, and there's limited editions, like Sasquatch Surprise, which is BBQ and Vinegar and pretty damn good.

Also made by Tim's, so if you liked the texture and the crunch, you can get them in other flavors.
