If you fly your flag like I do, from an angled bracket, and have no way to lower the flag to half staff, the correct way is to tie a black ribbon on the top of the flag.and display the National Ensign that way.

And remove the black ribbon at noon.

Thanks. Didn’t know about the black ribbon procedure, so I waited until noon before placing the flag into its angled bracket. Still learning new stuff in retirement!
