Today, he was taken to Seattle.
His family flew him up there to spend his last days with family.

Last night was probably my last time to see him, at least in a cognitive manner.

I was determined not to cry.

Raingirl and I met his two brothers and nephew, all involved in the move to the hospice in Seattle.

Until I had to say goodbye.
That was damn near the toughest thing I had to do.
Knowing I will likely never see my friend alive again.

I hated it.
FUCK cancer.

But, I did what I could do. Raingirl did what she could do.

We were there for him in time of need.
But it just makes me realize, that life is precious and too damn short.

Hug your family. Thank your friends.
Tomorrow comes too son.

When I had to do it, and I knew it would be the last time I would see him it was hard but I kept a good face until I hit the stairs.

Strength to you and yours for what you are going through.

Agreed I hate cancer not only for those I have lost but for everyone who has lost family and friends.

Cancer wrecks havoc through families and lives. Sometimes treatments take, sometimes they don't. Someday, cancer will be more.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

As tough and emotional time as I can only imagine.

Humbling

It's times like these I like to focus on the positive. You had the opportunity to be Kadin's friend. To be there for him.

Good on ya

Just a year and two weeks ago, literally, we were bouncing ideas back and forth as he made me a bumper sticker for the band. There's not much to say, except I wish him no pain.

God bless, you and Raingirl, brother. You two and Kadin will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. You were both in the right place at the right time, and you are a worthy man for your help and compassion. You and so many others here and elsewhere make me really think about Louis Armstrong's rendition of "What a Wonderful World".

People of such high quality really can make it a wonderful world, despite the good and the bad out there.

Been down that road a couple times. Never easy when you lose best friends or family members to anything, but especially to cancer.

Thank you for the update, Rainman. I'm almost at a loss for words, except to say your gift of brotherly love to your friend humbles me. Blessings to you and Raingirl as you both grieve for a friend. Of course I will keep Kadin and his family in my prayers too.
