Happy Solstice from the Land of the Midnight Sun
What's become a tradition for me since moving to Alaska, taking a picture of the sunset at exactly midnight on the solstice. Last night's pic I shot down on Turnagain Arm close to Portage. I've never lived anywhere where the solstice is an event like it is in Alaska. It's all down hill from here to the dark and dreary...

Lovely
My in-laws just got back to the continental from an Alaskan cruise.
AK is on my shortlist of places to vacation to.

In the middle 70"s lived in Delta Junction / Ft. Greely, Alaska.... Tradition was a softball game played with the 1st pitch not thrown till midnight (12pm) on a unlit (no lights) field and the players had no problem seeing the ball...................drill sgt. ^^^^^^

I had a great lunch at a little drive-in in Delta Junction last summer. Nice little town.

OP, that's an absolutely gorgeous photo. I'm really wishing I was up there right now...supposed to be in the 90's here all week, and humid so the index will be well over 100. And the bugs are out in force. Had to work a traffic detail this morning, drank 4 bottles of water in 2 hours and completely soaked through my vest carrier and my shirt. I'm over this crap and ready for winter to come back.

People. They sacrifice people Wink

Personally, I'm happy because we only have four more months of consistent heat.

The Buffalo Drive-in? When I was working up there we would always go there for a Buffalo burger, with curly fries and a chocolate shake.
