Good idea, but too little, too late.

“Denmark will ban burkas in schools and universities as part of a plan to tackle what it calls 'parallel societies.'

The garment worn by some Muslim women is already banned in public places in the Scandinavian country, but the move would now expand the order into classrooms across Denmark.

In Denmark, the term 'parallel societies' refers to residential areas where more than half of inhabitants are from an immigrant background. …”

I like the move, time will tell if it is too little or too late. I would rather there be some level of official awareness of the problem even if it is a modest response.

It's funny how people consider the Danish government trying to deal with people who refuse to assimilate and follow traditional laws as an oppressive fascist dictatorship. Apparently they also have the same views with dealing with illegals here in the US.

The law is the law, and it's about time Europe started to wake up. JMHO, YMMV.

I would think this move might only serve to consolidate the burka-favoring oppressors further into their enclaves and isolate them from normal societal standards. Not to mention giving them a rallying point that they are victims of discrimination. From a more practical perspective, sighting a burka certainly helps with identifying the enemy.

With this ban, what is their desired outcome and how are they measuring it? Surely the burka is not the target.

They’re trying to get them to leave the country voluntarily without actually kicking them out by deportation.

Just make it unpleasant enough
