I'm a fan. If your core is warm, you are warm. Plus, I can never have enough pockets.

Wool shirt
Down vest
Windshell

That was enough to keep me warm to about -10

Below that I’d put a lightweight fleece jacket in the mix

I used the same vest under my leather while riding my shovelhead during the cooler fall and winter months. Same shell over the leather when wet

So now I wonder is your user name short for snow ghost.

Took my 8 YO snow boarding again yesterday. Unless it's below zero, all I need is my North Face fleece vest, a shell and a poly long sleeved shirt. Had to take the fleece vest off yesterday after lunch as even that got too hot. Gorgeous day.

A vest is perfect for a day on the mountain.

From the around the first part of October until the first of March I wear a vest nearly every day...have for years. I've probably got 15+. Everything from fleece, to 5.11, to down fill, to Cabela's Safari I've got a cross section of 'em. Everybody is so use to seeing me in a vest that they do not think a anything about it so my carrying is not an issue.

I do like to wear a coat so I slap on vest and head out unless it is very cold then I'll put on a coat. I keep a coat in my vehicle so if I need it it's there but it's usually not that cold here.

I have been looking at the Patagonia vests. Which one do you like?

I like wearing vest quite a lot. They also help out for OWB carry when I’m wearing a tucked shirt.

I just bought the Patagonia Burly Man vest. It is crazy warm and not very thick.
